Picture from the air above London Well, I made here after two days of travel and 26 hours in a plane. Yes, I know how many hours I spend on a plane thanks to Kristen pointing it out. See, for that kind of thing I don't think it really helps to know that after two plane rides, 12 hours in the air and a sleepless night that you're less than half way there. But maybe that's just because I tend not to look on the bright side. Some people have hobbies or do crafts...I look on the dark side.
But enough negativity, the trip here really wasn't that bad. I found a new appreciation for watching soccer on the way here. First of all, I watched a game in Heathrow airport where people from both countries whose teams were playing were watching the game. Everyone was yelling and cheering at the screen. There were definitely a few guys, who were cheering for the Ivory Coast, who were cheering extra loud for spite since I think they felt a little out numbered. Then I arrived in Ghana at the same time Ghana was playing the Czech Republic. Ghana won the game at about the same time as
airport
The Kopota Airport in Ghana I was going through customs, which made the customs line-up a lot more entertaining since all the guard were cheering and running around. The one guard kept on running down the hall to watch the TV, screaming the whole way. While, apparently, outside everyone was running up and down the streets with flags, banging on drums and yelling. Quite festive, but I don't think there were any riots. Which reminds me that someone should email me to tell me who won the Stanley Cup.
Kenya airways was a surprising good airline. On the trip from London to Kenya the plane had the individual TVs in the seat backs ahead of each passenger, which made the trip a lot easier. Plus there was an empty seat between me and the next person, which was awesome.
Unfortunately, the airport in Kenya had almost nothing to do and there weren't any places to sleep. Although, I was quite entertained by the hardest working bathroom attendant I've ever seen. You know the ones that hold out a towel for you and spray cologne that you don't like all over you. Well, this guy, whose name was also John, actually came into the
House
Mrs. Kudjoe's house where I'm staying stall with me before I could sit down and wiped the seat off with towel paper and flushed the toilet (Yes, he actually got in the bathroom stall with me, which freaked me out a little at first. Don't worry he was polite enough to leave while I squeezed one out). Then, once I was done, he run around fantically to turn on the tap, pump soap and get paper towel for me. I ended up paying a dollar to use the bathroom, which seemed well-earned money considering. Quite funny to watch, but it later occured to me that the guy who had wiped the seat off also was the same guy who handed me paper towel to dry me 'clean' hands off with.
Anyway, I'm here now and the place I'm staying at is awesome. It's a huge house that looks like a motel from the outside. It's super nice inside and so are the people. Mrs. Cudjoe will be my host mom for the next month. There's also three other tpa (teaching and projects abroad) students staying with me. One is in journalism and the other two are in medicine. So, it's awesome to have people around
Room 1
This the room I'm staying in. Right now I have it to myself but soon I might have to share the bed with another guy. Good thing it's a king. to show me what to do and not do, and believe me I needed to know. I think it would have taken me a month to figure out how to use the trow-trow system to get around if Helen, the journalist, hadn't have told me.
I was pumped to find out that one of the medical students wants to learn how to surf. That's freakin sweet, especially since noone surfs here so I wouldn't have been out on the waves by myself. Well, that is at least if I do make it out on the waves. My surf board didn't make the flight. I'm not quite sure where it got lost since I made sure that it was checked through when I was in London. I have a lost baggage form filled out at the airport so we'll seen if it turns up.
Anyway, I'm here and it's awesome. There's tons more I could tell you already but I think I'll wait a day or two.
PS. Can someone send me email addresses from Cole and Keldon or everyone else that wants to be notified when I make any entry. Just email them to my email address.

Glad you made it
Hi, Very glad to hear you made it there alright. The place you're staying at looks amazing! I was wondering if you were gonna experience the craziness of the world cup since Ghana made it into the second round. And no one's won the stanley cup yet. Edmonton's still hanging on and they're going into game 7 tonight. Went to hear Bill Wilson yesterday at CDAC and he was awesome, very motivating. Have a gooder, we'll be waiting to hear more from you.
