In the planning stage of this trip, I needed to put together a list of what I would like to see while I was traveling. The idea was to dream big and whittle things down to fit my schedule. The Black and White Deserts of Egypt were one of the must haves. Guidebooks did not really help in the planning process for this outing, so I turned to my friend the internet. Chicken and the Mushroom

A Question of Balance
Some think it is easy to capture the essence of a rock formation in the desert but it is when you see a cracker shot that one sees the difference between the casual snap and the considered portrait. This shot is a cracker Brendan. The light embracing the arcs and angles to make these simple formations a thing of beauty. Brilliant.

Last Lunch

That meal is exactly what I feel like right now!
I had to laugh at Travel Brendan realising that he can't sit cross legged anymore! Somewhere along the line, I've lost that ability too...and on EVERY trip I remind myself that I should practice sitting cross legged when we get home, but predictably, I never do. The tent didn't sound plush, but the rest of the adventure sounds fabulous!

Last Lunch

Sprawling
I have resorted to sprawling on the floor these days instead of sitting cross legged, but that lunch was worth it. Guess I need to hit the gym and do some stretching. No, the tent wasn't plush. What really rubbed it in was that the trip started out in a 5 star hotel with every amenity imaginable. I have been toying with titling a blog Sleeping Around Egypt lol. 5 star bed, tent, train compartment, van- I have done it all.

Desert
It is just amazing to be out in a desert ... A few weeks ago I was in the LIwa near Saudi border But in a luxury hotel surrounded by sand dunes. And a few months ago I was in Mojave and Death Valley ...... The landscapes and colours you see are just mind blowing...what great adventure you guys are having. Lynne

Love the desert
Whether it is in a luxury hotel or tent outside, the beauty of the desert never fails to impress. I'm glad you have enjoyed them lately. If you are back in CA, give a shout.

Just caught up with your adventure. The photos are great! Since I know that I will never leave my homeland, I truly appreciate your blog. It's from a "normal" persons life, not a scripted perfect life perspective. Thank you so much!!

White Desert
Hey there, I am a friend of Dave and Merry Jo's. Fun to read your blog as well. I loved the photo of the desert showing the size of the formations compared to the truck.

Chicken and the Mushroom

Lol. This picture popped up and made me laugh. Trust a chef to see a chicken and a mushroom in these rock formations!

You brightened my day
Thanks Andrea. That is what they really are called. I was simply the one thinking of what I would cook with them if I could.
