Arrived in Sharm el Sheikh today. views of the sinai desert as we flew in were pretty spectacular. Every thing is very rushed in the airport, and if anyone is thinking of coming expect long delays in the airport arrivals, the bank sells visas for 10 Pounds which consists of what looks like 2 postage stamps which enables you to travel outside of Sharm. we arrived at the Ocean Club Apartments which we booked through Explorers. First impressions are that it is really nice, villa style apartments all on the ground floor which surround 2 pools, very relaxed and very friendly. A few beers in the bar and we headed out in a taxi to Narma bay. Small tip for anyone using the blue and white taxis is to agree your price before you get in ... read more

Ras Mohamed is located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez. It's a home to divers and nature lovers like me. The reefs at Ras Mohamed are unrivalled in their beauty and diversity of life, with thousands of colorful fishes and other marine creatures, which together with the reef form a complete ecosystem. They are living creatures; they breathe, eat and reproduce. Whether you are going to snorkel or you are a technical diver, you can discover all the best spots. So dive with me! It is a completely different world down there, so many colors! Take a closer look at this magnificent world of the coral reef at Ras Mohamed, which reaches depth of up to 2 900 meters! Onze eerste vakantie samen.

Red sea 1 June 2003 100 camels, not for me, but a friend of ours was offered this for his wife who has the most beautiful blue eyes. Diving, diving, diving! The previous year (2002) we met friends at Malongane, Mozambique. They wanted to get a group of people together for a trip to the Red Sea for a live aboard diving holiday. They even travelled from Durban to Johannesburg to show us videos and photos to tempt and persuade us, but of course we didn't need much encouragement. How could we resist? It is known as one of the top places to dive in the world - a place that any diver should dive at least once in their lives. With all the unrest in Egypt at the moment I am glad we went when ... read more

17th November 2002 As I sit outside my room on my first evening in the Camel Dive Club Hotel I await the new adventure of diving and being by myself in Egypt. The evening is warm a cool 25c the pool is lit and looks warm and inviting, still and deep. It’s a busy place with lots going on all around. On my visit out in to the streets looking to see what there is to do I finally stated talking to Hamad a salesman of course I went to dinner in a nice but quite seafood restaurant good food, it was pleasant chatting and finding out more about the place, about Egyptian life and the way he works. (I know I’ll laugh at this when I read it next as I don’t know the names ... read more

Beach Holiday in Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh) For our second holiday together we went to sunny and hot Egypt. More precisely to Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinaï region. We stayed 2 weeks in hotel Holiday Inn****. From there we made some trips in the Sinaï region. The rest of our time we relaxed at the beach or at 1 of the 4 huge pools. In front of the hotel there was a private "hotel"-reef where we could snorkel all day long! The reef was really superb!! All kinds of fishes with all kinds of colours you can imagine. Our hotel was in Shark Bay, between the airport and Naama Bay. Naama Bay is the main tourist resort of Sharm El Sheikh, with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. There is even a Hard Rock Café! ... read more
