Day 2 of our return trip to Cairo is spent exploring the Coptic Quarter in Cairo. The Coptic quarter is generally were the Coptic Egyptians settled. The Coptic Egyptians, also known as the Copts for short, were the early adopters of Christianity in Egypt (Orthodox), descendants of Ancient Egyptians.

Christianity is thought to have spread to Egypt shortly after the death and ascension of Christ in 42 AD via Saint Mark. Yes for those that do or have ever read the bible, the same Mark that has a chapter in the bible. The Gospel of Mark was originally found in the Coptic Language.

We spend the day taking in the narrow streets and exploring the churches within the Coptic district.
