Another day, another country - a side trip to Lesotho. It was a totally different world to South Africa from the moment we crossed the border. We were in 4WDs, but the majority of the other traffic was on foot or on horseback - in fact we only saw 4 other vehicles moving all day on that side of the border. The roads were like the border post - effectively non-existent - the border post comprising of two abandoned caravans. Sadly, this meant no Lesotho stamp in the passport.
We visited a school to which the backpacker hostel was donating cash, which was John's first opportunity to play footie for over 6 weeks. The Bohemia Youth Academy (Lesotho Branch) is now operational. The other main fascination of the kids was having their photo taken on a digital camera and seeing the instant image. The other items on the agenda were a visit to a rock art site, a visit to a sangoma - a medicine woman and the local brewery. The quality was a little suspect in comparison to Harvest Pale, but at 50 pence for a bucket the quantity wasn't in question.

Lesotho
Yes, definitely a marked difference between South Africa and Lesotho! I loved the Mountain Kingdom - friendly people, and it felt like stepping back in time a couple of centuries. Always very interesting to visit a school, and to try the local brew!
