Will I be allowed into Pakistan if I was born in Israel?
14 years ago, December 19th 2009 No: 1 Msg: #96802
Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone can help but I am British and have a british passport but I was born in Israel and would like to cross over into Pakistan from China.

I do not have any Israeli stamps in it but the place of birth stays the Isreali city of Haifa. (altho it doesnt actually say Israel)

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hello BnK 😊

I think you could possibly have problems if your place of birth is listed as a place in Israel. I would ask the folks who issue the passports to put a different place of birth when you get a your next passport, or sooner even. It might be worth getting a new one issued now, if they are willing to put a different place of birth on it.

I saw a post by a guy on another site who was denied entry to Iran for something as minor as this. I cant remember the details, but it was something like his place of birth being listed as Israel.

You'll need to get your visa well before you hit the border i.e. in Beijing. I suspect you should be fine with a brit passport, but rather than waste a whole load of time on it, you'd be better off asking at the embassy concerned. I suppose you could just hand it over without saying anything, but there will be a 'place of birth' box on the application (which will ask for country).

Of course if you're thinking about just turning up at the border, you've clearly not done your homework. On a more practical note that border over the Karakorum Highway is usually closed for a good chunk of the winter (i.e. NOW). When were you planning on crossing? Reply to this

Hi aspiringnomad,

Ha, no not just planning to turning up at the border! We wouldn't be there until after winter as we're in India until March and then plan to spend a few months in China. I take it from your post that you think once the Visa is issued, there shouldn't be any problems at the border?

Thanks again

I think, there is a good chance than neither the Pakistani consulate or the immigration will even know where Haifa is, so there may be no issues at all.

No, but tell us, if it is not the type of joke that will cause complaints. 😉 Reply to this

It's the ones that don't cause complaints that worry me. Reply to this

@Mell, they probably know where Haifa is which in their case is in Palestine because Pakistan does not recognize the state of Israel.

@BnK, as long as you have a passport other than the Israeli Passport regardless of your birth city, you are more than welcome to travel to Pakistan. You would need to get a Visa though. Reply to this

First of all, if you were born in Israel and you own an Israeli passport, you must enter Israel with your Israeli passport, and if you are using your British passport, make sure you don't have an Israeli stamp in it because you wont be able to enter Pakistan.

Best regards,
Avner Shalom

Why do you want to go Pakistan??? One of the most unstable countries in the World, Bombs explode almost every week, no democracy there, unofficially ruled by Military. Better go anywhere else in the world ... Reply to this

Wow, old thread!

In response to the above - as well as all the excitement you just mentioned, this was the main reason. Reply to this

Hello All,
I found this post and I have a similar question. I have a European passport (for privacy reason's a rather not say from where) and I have also an Israeli passport. If I apply for a visa in the local embassy and declare my Israeli citizenshp in the visa form will I be granted a visa to Pakistan. As it takes quite some work to get all papers preapered I rather save that fror myself if it is for sure a no.
Thank you for your advice.
