Is travelling from Guatemala City to Flores in the end of the rainy season as crazy as I am hearing??
I am planning a trip to Guatemala this coming August of 2009 and would like to know what everyone thinks about taking a bus or van (not a chicken bus, hopefully more of a luxury type bus or van), from Guatemala City or Antigua up to Flores stopping in Coban for a couple of nights... I am getting some mixed responses and would love some more advice!! Especially since its the end of the rainy season it makes me even more nervous!!
Any info would be ssooo appreciated!

Reply to this no not a bad idea at all!!!!
last august of 2008 i took a big bus from lake atitlan to flores and then to tikal .....
Everything was fine although there for very few people besides me 3 of my girlfriends and one american guy and the bus driver. It cost us 50 us dollars!
which i think is a great price ! the only dilemma was that our air conditioning stopped working and our bus broke down in the middle of the jungle at 4 am! pretty scary but then we waited for another fancy bus to come pick us up which had about 2o people aboard, so iguess it just depends on the company of the bus, but dont worry you will be fine! will you be traveling with anyone that would be safest...
hope this helps
