Interesting house across the riverI pretty much slept from 10:30pm until 7am. Again, Manoli woke up earlier than I did, but that's pretty much the norm. We packed up our stuff, making sure anything we would need onboard before they loaded our luggage, was in my backpack. We made arrangements with the Breeze Inn driver to take us to the ship around 2pm, and left our baggage in the luggage room, so we could tour Seward a bit more. We followed the main highway towards downtown Seward. There are basically two parts to Seward, the portside and train depot at one end and the main part of town at the other. Both parts had some stores, restaurants, and souvenir shops, but there were a lot more in the port end. They have a free shuttle between the two parts, but we liked to walk and see things better.
We reached the town and checked out the Alaska Sealife Center, but you had to pay to go in and we weren't sure how much time we had to spare. Near that, began a very nice walk along the ocean, with parks and a couple of RV/Camping places. We strolled along the shore until we reached

Our cruise ship in port the portside part of town, and started looking for a place to eat, and a decent souvenir shop that had a thimble. There was a mermaid festival this weekend, and they had a big flea market at the beginning of the port, about a block away from the ocean. We strolled through the market, but didn't see anything worth the space in our luggage or paying for shipping. Right after the market there was a restaurant called the Lighthouse Cafe and Bakery, that looked decent, so we went inside. I ordered a chicken cheese quesadilla and my wife ordered a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. Both were pretty good, and mine came with so many fries I couldn't finish my meal, but of course, that's the norm for me. After lunch, we wandered down the road to the depot, looking for my thimble, but I couldn't find one, so we headed back to the hotel to wait for our ride to the ship.
The driver arrived about 1:30pm and we got in the van a bit before 2pm and headed towards the ship. He dropped us off in front of a big building, and unloaded our luggage. I gave

Another cool house across the river him a $5 tip and we went to the baggage drop off building, then headed towards the big building to check in. It wasn't too busy, and we got checked in, exited the building and walked to the boarding ramp. The ship, Celebrity Summit, looked pretty big, but our boarding ramp took us to the 3rd deck. Here they checked our IDs and told us how to get to our room. Our room was on Deck 9, almost at the very front of the ship. When we reached room 004, our pass cards were on the door, so we used them to enter. I don't know what the other rooms are like, but our room was middle class, because it had a veranda, although ti was a restricted view veranda, meaning we couldn't quite see to the very front of the ship. The veranda had two chairs and a table. The room has a nice queen sized bed with a very thick blanket, a small sofa with a table, a smaller table against the opposite wall, a medium size TV, an area with a refrigerator, safe, and some drawers and shelves, and a twin closet. And another cool house bathroom with a small shower. The whole layout was very convenient and well organized.
After we got settled, we decided to check out the ship. There are basically twelve decks. The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 10th up, have special stuff on them. There are stores, restaurants, spa salons, fitness stuff, outdoor pool with 4 heated whirlpools, an indoor heated pool, lots of bars, and a nice big theater. I'm sure I missed some stuff, but that's most it. If you pay a lot more, I think you get a bigger room and free food and drinks. We only get coffee, water, tea, and fruit juices. Even a soda cost $4.50! The specialty dining restaurants on the 4th and 5th, are available to everyone, but we have to pay for anytime we eat there. On the 10th deck though, there are a whole lot of assorted food places, and those are free. To the best of my knowledge, the only place you can smoke is towards the back of the 10th deck. After wandering around, we decided to eat dinner, so we went up to the 10th floor, grabbed an empty place, and started picking our food. I decided to

The Breeze Inn from the river road try the fish masala and some fresh fruit (the cantaloupe was not ripe!), and Manoli had chicken curry, sweet & spicy vegetables, mushroom masala, and we both had an assortment of desserts. It was all quite good, except for the cantaloupe.
After dinner, we sat on the viewing area of the 10th deck and watched the sun sort of go down. Afterwards, we headed to our room, got our pajamas on, and watched a TV show. Tomorrow we go through the Hubbard Glacier, and play some bingo. We might do some other stuff, but that's what we have planned.
