I'm living and working in Belgium for a year. My boyfriend is planning on visiting me for 2 weeks at the end of July and is leaving it up to me to plan our vacation. We'll be going to Paris for 4 days and maybe Amsterdam for 2 days but I need to find things to do for the rest of the time that he is here. So far I've planned visits to Brussel, Gent, Brugge, Antwerp, Dinant and Ypers. I just need to know what exactly there is to see and do.
I welcome any suggestions. It will be his first time in Europe and I want to have an amazing time here
Reply to this First time in Europe? Why then show him only around Belgium. There's much more to see in Europe. Go to Ireland and visit Connemara (there are really cheap flights), visit London or go to the South and travel through Italy (Florence, Tuscany, Rome). Greece has many interesting Islands to offer and there's a reason why Prague is called the Golden City.

Enjoy the trip.
Reply to this We're on a limited budget and we get free accomodation in Belgium. If we could afford to see the whole of Europe we would
Reply to this Hello Ann ZA 😊
I live in Munich and what I do to get to various destinations in Europe cheaply is catch the bargains while they are flying.
I usually get to fly from Munich to another city in Europe for 29 Euros one way including taxes. For this price I have flown to Madrid, Paris, Prague and lots more in the last 2 years.
The airline I use is Condor. On their homepage of their website is usually a list of what is on special offer.
I also avail of special offer overnight train journeys. I can get to Berlin or Hamburg for 29 Euros one way including taxes when the tickets are on special offer.
So what I would do in your situation is browse the budget airline websites and see which ones fly from where u are. To get the special offers it is usually necessary to book 3 months in advance but not always.
I recommend that u choose 3 cities to visit. If u choose more than that u will be rushing too much.
Certainly include Brugge if u can get there easily. It is a very pretty place. I have been there a couple of times.
I also suggest that u get a copy of the Lonely Planet Guide to Europe. It will give u lots of suggestions about what to see and do in the places u want to go to.
U could check out the websites of the following budget airlines and see if they have flights from where u are.
Condor
Easyjet
Ryanair
Mell
PS Since u are travelling during the heavy tourist season I suggest u prebook your accomodation.
And another suggestion in case u are interested: Since u are on a tight budget u could try couch surfing and stay at other peoples houses for free while u are travelling. The type of sleeping place u get varies. U may have the whole spare room to use or maybe just the couch. Most people who have tried it say it was a good experience and they had fun. www.couchsurfing.com
