If it's your first time in India, go to Rajasthan - it has the greatest variety of sights in a reasonably small area.

Best time? December to March. It's also the high season, so the most expensive. Avoid the monsoons.

Health problems? India has them. So: Eat vegetarian. Eat only hot, freshly cooked food. Avoid buffets. Take Immodium Instants at first sign of the trots.

How do you pack for a baby? Pack Viagra, leave the condoms behind. Reply to this

In India, for us it was essential to eat vegan food. We ended up in hospital once - even rice can be critical. So make sure you always it in a restaurant crowded with families. Avoid restaurants where only local men eat. No buffets, just fresh made hot food. We always avoided lassis - for a good reason. And no ice-cream, even industrial one.

For a first time in India, the easiest areas are Goa and Kerala, especially when yu go with a baby. Reply to this
