Malaysia International Tourism Bloggers Conference and Awards (MITBCA 2012) the official online partner is TravelBlog.org
This is very exciting! - I'm pleased announce that travelblog.org has partnered with the
Malaysia International Tourism Bloggers Conference and Awards (MITBCA) for an event in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate social media and tourism in Malaysia. The event is an awards ceremony and conference on the 8th and 9th of May 2012.
There is an award for the best Travel Blog posted about Malaysia, we've emailed all the eligible bloggers. If you think you may have been missed do make sure to nominate yourself using the facebook app on their web page
mitbca.com - the deadline for nominations is 24th April - so there isn't much time.
The blogs will be short-listed via public voting (now until - 1st May) after this a winner from each category will be decided by a panel of judges. The winners will be finalised on the 5th May and informed as soon as possible.
Please post back here if you nominate your self - there is a public voting phase and it would be great if we can participate.
For more information - see
MITBCA website,
MITBCA on FaceBook and
MITBCA on Twitter
Updated: - nominations are now closed - we received over 160 entries!

I sent the information, and links to the above blogs for entry in the competition. One of the blogs has some lovely photos which I roped Ali into taking for it, when I was in Kuala Lumpur. If the one with Alis photos is not allowed, then I will withdraw that particular entry, or else share it with Ali, which I don't mind because since he is already in KL I wouldn't need to share anything I win. 😉

Reply to this Wouldn't it be interesting to see a monkey take the podium to accept an award!
Reply to this I wrote them an email with all the required details, but haven't got a reply, and can't seem to find myself on their website. Anybody else had that problem? Any idea why?
Reply to this There's been a huge response - it's going to take a day or two to get everyone entered.
You'll get a confirmation when listed.
You can nominate yourself directly through their website and a facebook app if you want to get listed sooner.
Hope that helps.
Reply to this Jens, I got a reply from them a couple of hours ago.
They said, my nomination has been received for the 'Malaysia International Tourism Travel Blog' category. They said also, that they will come back and notifiy me about my nomination status within 24 hours. Apparently, my entries have to be approved. They said, I should not forget to vote on it then. So, I presume, we just wait until we are given the go ahead, and then ask our friends to vote for our blogs. 😊
It would be great if TravelBloggers who are not entering the competition would also vote for at least some of us who are, to increase the chance of somebody on TravelBlog winning. As far as I understand, bloggers from other sites can enter too. I saw something yesterday saying that a blog from Blogspot is in the lead. I say, we gang up and bump them off that top position, as soon as our blogs have been approved for voting.

In response to: Msg #155079 I got the same email as Mell. That's a good idea of getting fellow TBers to vote for every TBer in the competition. I will vote for every TBer unless there is a limit.
Reply to this Hi, I have received an email from MITBCA regarding entering this competition for Toursim on Malaysia - my blog is www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Jicky/ - I have tried putting the URLS on put they are coming up invalid - can anyone help me please?

Jo Haslam
Reply to this Hello Jo and welcome to the Forum! I believe it takes some hours for the blog to be approved after it has been submitted. Were you able to successfully submit it or do you still have a problem?
Reply to this Hi thank you so much for responding. I havent had a reply from them yet and I have been unable to nominate myself? which is what they said in the email if I wanted to.
In response to: Msg #155091 Reply to this Were you able to complete the application process or was there an error?
Perhaps, you could try the Facebook application option instead. If your application was successfully completed it might take some time for you to receive a confirmation.
Reply to this When I tried to complete the application it kept coming up URL error? I have posted something on facebook but when I click on it it just takes me to my blog and dosnt make it clear about voting? sorry for sounding thick!!
