Reply to this Harold,
I was in Raratonga (Cook Islands) a few years ago and the main streets were great for cycling. We rented bikes and traveled the island. It was great. There are some dirt roads leading up into the hills but I would say most roads were in good shape.
Fiji makes up 300 islands and yes there are boats and ferry available to take you from island to island. I was on the main island which had pretty good roads and Matamanoa which really didn't have any roads but was a great island vacation. Many of the Fijian islands are small and have one resort on them. I would stick with the larger islands.
Happy cycling.
Reply to this The only public international public transport by sea in the Pacific is: Vanuatu - New Caledonia, Samoa - Tokelau, Papua New Guinea - solomon Islands. Having said that most of these countries have public ferrys that go from island to island within the country.
Reply to this If you find people traveling by yacht you might also get them to take you either for free, for money or in exchange for working on their yacht
