We are planning on getting married in Thailand. Looking for some advice on budgets.
Hi All
We are planning on getting married in Thailand next year (prob May 2012). Somewhere like Koh Samui. As getting married there is quite popular, I wondered if weddings was a 'service' that you can book similarly to booking a day trip. In other words, are there wedding agents selling different budget wedding packages?
I hope that makes sense. As backpackers we will be looking for a budget wedding with one or two nights at a nice hotel or resort where the ceremony will be held. Have any of you done somethig similar?
Thanks
Reply to this Hal, thanks for this, it has been extremely helpful!
Personal experiences still welcome though.
Reply to this Hi Tina,
We got married in Samui in February this year & it was a perfect wedding! The island is just perfect for wedding group, there're so many things to do, many options of hotels for our guests, we stay in private villa on the beach & that's where we had our wedding & reception. The price are not so high like Phuket where we planned to have wedding before.
The beach where our wedding was held is Laem Thein,it's like a hidden paradise ,not busy & crowded like Chaweng beach.
We use Dream Catchers wedding service & they did an excellent job, even better than I expected. Aey is Thai & she speaks perfect English & packed with great ideas , styles & info made it so easy for us & i could get some tan relaxing on the beach & let them do the job! 😊 <snip>
also, worth to go is Nikki Beach Sunday ,was the best!!
Hope these info helps.

I am American, from Hawaii, and live here now in Thailand. Not sure where you are from, you did not say. Most of the Thai weddings are Buddhist weddings. And they are not recognized by either the Thailand government nor the American Government. So if you want a truly legal wedding check with your government. Here, as an American. I need to get documents that I am eligible to marry. Have Thailand immigration approve the documents. Then go to the local Amphor and register there. In all a day or two. That is registered legal Thai wedding. Then take that form to either the Embassy or consul. Then it will be legal in America.
Check carefully if you truly wish to be married. Check your country and Thailand laws.
Thaivisa.com is a good place to start.

Hi! Tina,
Have you ever been to Koh Lanta, Krabi Thailand? I think Koh Lanta is such a good place for getting married. It’s an awesome place for vacation and you can do lots of activities. I recommend Koh Lanta Beach Hotel <snip> that you can enjoy the view of Andaman Sea and have a wedding ceremony. Lanta Chada hotel also offers wedding packages such as Thai style and western style. Just check the rates and facilities.
