What beach towns do you all recommend in Ecuador? We are in our 50\'s and we like swimming, exploring, walking. Anything quaint and charming with friendly people?
We are arriving in Quito on Feb 1 for 2 and a half months.

Reply to this I think the best way is to find your own place. This for i recommend that you give a try to the following
locations: Puerto Lopez, is a little village at the coast inside of the Machalilla Natural Park. Here you can enyoy beach life, excursions to Isla de la Plata, Fishing, visit the Los Frailes Beach and the Machalilla Park.
Other Posibility is Montañita, a backpackers paradise. If you need more comfort you should try Bahia de Caraquez, Manta or Salinas.
Reply to this Hi there,
Puerto Lopez has everything the travelers need yet remains quaint and tranquil, Montanita is a little larger than life and more suited to the surfer or party crowd. Canoa is somewhere in between and is very friendly, Monpieche is super quiet and a great place to just get away from it all, Atacamas is chaotic at this time of the year with mostly local holiday makers, hope this helps.
PS The Ecuador coast can have very strong rip currents so just be aware........enjoy
