I am in Chile right now and am planning on entering brazil in a few months and am working on getting my visa now. I am having problems with this because I am traveling by bus and do not have a ticket out of the country. I know that this is a common problem for all travelers so I am wondering what the solutions are. Is there a website where I can buy a onward bus ticket online? Also I am going to be in Argentina, Chile, and Uraguay and am wondering where is the easiest place to get a visa? Any suggestions will help.
Reply to this Bus tickets are not usually sufficient. Buy a fully refundable air ticket out of Brazil and cancel later. There will be a small servicing charge. I believe you have to use the visa within a set period of time (90 days?). You should apply at an embassy in a city where you will be for enough time to wait for the visa. It should take a few days at most. You can always request that it go as quickly as possible, but it might depend on how many visas they are processing.
Reply to this nonsense, there's no visa requirements for tourists up to 3 months of stay
Reply to this US citizens require a visa for Brazil which must be obtained in advance. Requirements are not the same for every nationality, strawberry23. Perhaps you do not need a visa but others do.
Reply to this The process of getting a visa to Brazil can be extremely torturous, unfortunately! I had to go back a few times before I was able to get mine. Some of the most important info to show them will be your bank account records, a printed flight itinerary (to show you are coming back), your passport, properly sized photos of yourself, and possibly more depending on the consulate you go to. They may have a list of requirements on their site, if not, go to the embassy and ask for a list of requirements for a visa. It also cost $100... Long but definitely worth it.
