We're heading home to Vancouver for three months and my dad has been happily keeping me up to date on the weather situation:
Just a note, wind chill here tonight (minus) -20C !!!
We're in Norway right now, our original plan was to stay the winter but I got the visa situation confused and have to go back home and apply there to stay here. long story.
-20 in the lower mainland. Has anyone been to the GVR or lived there and experienced this?
I'm slightly amused that Vancouver is getting colder weather than Oslo. I've always pictured the Scandinavian country like one of those picturesque cities in the snow globes, and very cold! Now I'm here and it's Vancouver that's getting hit with snow-globeitis.
Kristy Reply to this Hello! Yes we had a freak show storm that brought 90+ km winds and a -17 windchill. BRRRRRRR. Us west coasters lose our minds in that kind of weather!! Today, we are more back to seasonal weather for November/December. Drizzly, wet and downright bone chilling wettish cold.
RIP my banana tree in my front yard. Cheers Andrea aka Cabochick
Reply to this - 17 oh jeez. I'm glad it's warming up though, we get home on Monday evening. Where abouts do you live on the wet coast... urr west coast?
Everyone keeps telling me I should be used to the cold snow and ice, I'm from Canada lol. yes Canada, but the warm part!! that tiny little area on the far bottom left of the map!
Reply to this We're in Surrey/Langley and it wasn't that bad! There were a few miserable days - and they felt worse then they really were (because we're all so unused to it!), but it passed quickly. I LOVE how we can get wicked snow storms out here ... and 2 days later the green grass is back. Yay Vancouver :D
Reply to this Hey we're just up in Guildford!! we got home two days ago to rain rain and more rain. oh how I love Vancouver weather!!
I think the minus 20 was the wind chill but ohhhhhhman.
Reply to this you should have proper clothing and things for winters, yes season is more fantastic for travel if we take some precautions.
