Hey everyone!
My husband and I are going to be traveling for a whole year starting this coming July, we are planning to stay a couple of months in Chile starting in January of next year. We are aware that it will be spring that time of year down there, but we also know that part of the very south stays cold. We would like to skii while we are down there but are not sure if due to the season there's any resorts where we can skii. Could anyone let me know 1. If it's even fathomable to think about skiing during January-April? 2. If so, where?
Thank you so much!
Reply to this Hi Sally and Nick, thanks for the info! I may have to look at a different season. What places would you recommend for skiing?
Reply to this we only skied at las lenas
bariloche is supposed to be the best resort
you can ski numerous volcanoes in the region too
best to type south america skiing into google and all that info will come up!
Las Lenas is a good resort but if you are experienced skiers you cover all the pistes in one morning and then the rests is at your own risk in the back country - we did some off piste which was amazing and none of the regulars seem to do it
los penitentes on the chile border is also good but again the resort isn't that big
i would either go for bariloches for a week or two or do a ski safari around all resorts - companies do offer this as a trip but it is very expensive!
Reply to this January to April there is no skiing. Skiing starts in mid-June, give or take, in both Chile and Argentina and usually lasts through part or all of September. . The season lasts longer in the far south, but not into January, which is summer.
Reply to this Thanks, Fiona and Muno! Your information is very valuable as it'll help planning out trip 😊
