Looking for somewhere to stay when I arrive in Bogota.
Am arriving in Bogota in about two weeks to start my travels. Was looking for some advice on where to stay. I am looking for a hostel or a cheap hotel.
Reply to this We began our trip in Bogota last July and stayed in a hostel called Musicology.
I'm not entirely sure if I'd recommend it, though! A great hostel for meeting people and a good location in La Candelaria. However, it's a party hostel and music was pumped out almost constantly and sleep was tough.
Do be careful in that area at night, as a few people were mugged during our stay. Easy to avoid by taking taxis and not walking about on your own at night.
Reply to this I am living in Bogota now and although the Candelaria is good during the day, ie. sightseing, museums, etc... At night there is not much to do and as said above it is quite dangerous. When I was there a guy in my hostel was stabbed aswell as a few people being mugged. I know most of the hostles are in the Candelaria, but it is worth trying to look for somewhere to stay in the Chapinero. I am staying here at the minute. The Chapinero is very close to the zone t, where all the bars and clubs are. By far the best area in Bogota, I honestly did not enjoy it in Bogota until I moved from the Candelaria. I know of one cheap hostel/B&B here you should check out, Chapinorte. Cool, great location and cheap.

Reply to this We found one called Los Andes in a pretty safe area. Not a big place but well set up, friendly people and a reasonable breakfast in the price. A couple of shopping malls close by and a short walk to the Millenium T buses that can move you pretty quickly around the city very cheaply.
