Hi everyone! I live in Budapest, Hungary and I'm looking to go to Croatia next week but I have no idea where to go! Any suggestions? Somewhere with a nice beach and relatively close to Hungary(by car 6-7 hours).
Thanks
Reply to this Hey,
Zadar is a nice city, with beaches, good food and lots of old roman architecture, which google maps estimates at 7 hours drive from Budapest. The closest city on the coast to you is Rijeka, I've never been there or really heard anything about it though so can't say what it's like.
You could just drive down the coastal road between Rijeka and Zadar until you see somewhere you like the look of - I've seen all of that by car before and there are lots of nice looking towns on the way.
Reply to this Thanks! Have you been to Zadar? Do you know any cheap accommodations(either hotel or apartments) that are relatively clean and nice?
Reply to this I have but I've never stayed there, I was staying with family who live on an island nearby, so I wouldn't know about accomodation - sorry! If I were you I'd just try the tourist information office there, its a big enough city.
Reply to this I will be visiting budapest and croatia too in sept and oct, let me know what good suggestions you get!
Reply to this If you want to enjoy quality holiday in Croatia here is a great tip :
You can find all types of beaches on this Island. Summer at its best !
There is also a Rab medieval festival "Rapska Fjera", Rab Summer Music Festival with Buena Vista Social Club, Guru Josh Project , great night life, an a lot of this to do and spend a active holiday !!!!!!! :-D
Reply to this I know many people say that Croatia is very expensive, but everything depends on how you plan your trip.
As said by "Dubrovnik" If you want to sleep on the beach and eat food from 1-3 € you can do it. also if you want to sleep in a luxurious villa and pay 50-100 € sleeping and eating many different pieces.
Money is important and specially if you are travelling abroad for a vacation. To save money you need good planning and ideas like what to do, where to go and how.
When I visited Crotia last year, I did lot of online research to find all the information such as accommodation, food, hotel, and a lot more on forums and Google.
I think even you need to do research like what are options, budget, no. of days in crotia and so...depending upon your requirement.

Reply to this Croatia is a beautiful country and it is certainly worth visiting. In addition to unique coastline, cities, people and culture, throughout the whole year in Croatia is organized a great number of cultural events, concerts and manifestations that you can visit during your stay in Croatia. The only thing that was creating me little bit of problems is the movement and traveling with public transport, which is why I had to focus on the option of rented taxi services. Therefore, I recommend booking taxi service before your arrival, especially for the < snip>rt transport to the final destination</a> , to be sure with getting the accurate transport on time to the final desired destination.
