We have slowed up. No…..not because we are old. More the thought of the season’s change telling us to stop running around and start thinking about packing up the RV. Travel time is ahead. Start getting your gear in gear. We are heading out on September 25th. Lulu will be doing her usual task of checking you all in. She's so thorough and capable. What would we do with her? Love that Lulu!
With each year that passes, we find we are getting older….amazing, huh? We have been thinking about putting some roots down.…somewhere. We love living in our RV and aren't quite ready to give it up yet. We have been full-timing it since we sold our house in 2019. We so enjoy living in a house on wheels. 🎶The wheels of the bus go round and round.🎶 Since we rent our site on an annual basis at Tropical Palms, we are able to leave our RV right there even if we aren't living in it. We did that one other time. That time, we bunked in with our children….moving from one to another every couple weeks. They were all very gracious and most accommodating. But the time has
come to find our own little abode. We looked at several apartments to rent in the Corning and Geneseo areas. They are all nice. We haven't made any decision at this point because we don't need to have a place until around next May. We put our names on their waiting lists. Only one place offered a short-term rental, the rest were all for 12 months. Because we spend most of our time in Florida, we have to figure out what makes the most sense. Decisions! Decisions! All we know right now is we will be living in our rolling home in Florida in just a couple of weeks…..yahoo! And we’ll be shouting “Laissez le bon temps rouler”!
Fortunately, on one of our apartment hunts, we were able to meet one of our dearest friends for a late lunch. We have known Sue since the beginning of our college days (1962). Del and Sue were our very best friends. Cory stood up for Del when he and Sue were married. Del sent us much-needed money to get home when Cory & I eloped. We shared so many wonderful times together. Del passed away over 20 years ago. His loss
has been deep and his memories have been cherished. Sue is a true angel on this earth. We wish you could all meet her. You would love her as much as we do. She gives so much love onto everyone who knows her. She is so kind, sweet, caring, and sincere. We are blessed to have her as our dear, dear friend.
We have continued to enjoy spending time with our expanding family. We are all excited about attending our son and NEW daughter-in-law, Cory and Penny’s, celebration of their marriage. Many of our family will be there. What a wonderful time it will be. Our 3 great-grandsons are growing up so quickly. Henry will be 3 years old shortly after we leave NY. Luke follows with his 3rd birthday in several months. When Christmas Day arrives, Jack will be one year old! They are all so smart and adorable.
Speaking of birthdays, some of us gathered together to celebrate Sara’s 22nd birthday. Luke and Jack had both their grandmothers (Lory & Penny) there to dote on them. They love spoiling them. It's impossible not to because they are both so cute.
What an afternoon Cory and
I had! WoW! We were exhausted by the time we were done. It was a real struggle. Even Lulu pitched in to see what she could do….Bless her heart (if she had one). Cory was on the floor. We pushed and pulled with no luck. He got his tool out and finally accomplished this major undertaking. Thank, God! My back couldn't take much more. I was dripping sweat. Cory could barely get up. Once done, we just collapsed on the couch. We knew it wasn't going to be easy when we started but had no idea what a grueling session it would turn out to be. We decided we would never do this again….no matter what! I took pictures to record it all and to share with you. Get ready. As you can see, we finally got around to removing the God-awful, peeling crap recliners that we had installed in 2019. Two years….that's all it took….for them to start peeling and looking like s#¥t! We had a slipcover on them to hide the mess. This is what they looked like when we took the cover off…..Yikes! Disgusting! We paid a lot of money for them….what a waste! Garbage!! When the
fellow put them in the RV for us, he bolted them down.….with at least 10 bolts. Poor Cory….his fingers were raw trying to get them out. He even brought in his big saw and tried cutting them off. Oh, God! Once we got them loose, we got the backs off and finagled them out the door of the RV. This was a job and a half. Especially because we are old. We felt very satisfied, though. We have had to substitute a lawn chair and a bench for me to sit on now. It's not as comfy but it will do until we get to Florida. We have already purchased two new recliners from LazyBoy in Orlando. They are holding them for us. Once we call them, they will deliver and install them for us. We made sure that these will not peel or wear! Remember, we would never do this again!
Today we went to the annual Garlic Festival in Cuba, NY. It was a nice day with a rich, blue Florida sky. This festival draws thousands of people. Many vendors are set up….most selling something with garlic. There is entertainment and food. This all takes place on
the front lawn of a famous block barn. A few years ago, we toured the inside of this old horse barn and learned its history. You can Google the full history of it but here is a snippet about it. “McKinney Stables of Empire City Farms is a historic stable building located at Cuba in Allegany County, New York. It is a massive concrete block and terra cotta horse barn built in 1907–1909, and located on a 99-acre property in a semi-rural section of the town of Cuba.” We left this event clean-smelling….no garlic breath for us! Cory was able to get samples of his favorite cheese: Cuba Cheddar Cheese!
That's it folks. Next time you hear from us, we will be on the road in our rolling house. We are planning that you will join us on this journey! Road trip…..Hooray! 🎶 On the road again, it's so nice to be on the road again, making music with my friends, sing along with me"!🎶
