Great! I thought this photo might just do it. Actually, we are born with both sets of teeth (baby and adult)....they just haven't erupted yet.
It has taken us a tad longer than planned to prepare this blog. No reason....just how it is.
“Let There Be Light!” We bought a set of solar lights for our “coffee canopy”. It makes it so bright, pretty and festive at night. Only problem: we sit everyday under the canopy for the “morning coffee group” but haven't sat out at night to enjoy these bright, pretty lights. We get involved watching the evening news, streaming a movie or playing on our phone/iPad. We are getting old!! I'm sure the noseeums are sad because they are attracted to light and our tasty bodies. They're drooling for us to come out! Sorry, bugs!
A large group of Tropical Palms residents made our way to our community building for a night at the races! Every year, our friend Joe, organizes a fun night for all of us by running video horse races. We all have our own, decorated horse and make bets using play money. When Joe announces “...and they are off”....everyone comes alive with
excitement. At the end of the night, various gift cards are given out to winners. Everyone is a winner just by having a great time At The Races! Thanks, Joe.
Panic! My Ipad was acting up....it was bad. My Ipad is my life so you know the state I was in. I was near collapse. Supportive Cory drove me and my sick Ipad to the Apple store because nothing I had tried worked. Sandy came along for moral support also. I needed all the strength I could get. I was waited on quickly.....I’m sure the staff saw the distraught look on my face and knew I needed attention STAT. At one point, there were five staff members working over my Ipad.....it was just like a surgical team saving a dying patient. I prayed. The final step was to remove all my data and reinstall it. Nooooo---it was not successful. My Ipad was a goner! Boohoo, blubber, sob sob, waah. Cory had to hold me up. The only light at the end of the tunnel was to buy a new one.....a new one, you say? I thought I had the newest (5th-generation mini). Nope! They had a 6th-generation mini Ipad.
God lives!! My heart resumed beating. Of course, Mr. Sweetheart Cory was more than happy to fulfill my dreams. I'm blessed! Bring on the new Ipad! It was a moment of pure joy. I dropped to my knees with happiness. They bought my old Ipad, transferred all my data and I was on top of the world. Life is good!! And even better cause Cory is in mine!
After we left the Apple store “With My New Ipad”, Cory said he wanted to show me something.....sure! I had been hours in the Apple store so he and Sandy went to another store inside the Mall. Here they had on display several brand-new Telsa cars. Cory looked so happy inside that bright, shiny, red car. Geeze....maybe he was hoping I would buy him this vehicle in exchange for my new Ipad. I would if I could but I can't. He could but he said he didn't want it.....right! So he and Sandy will have to be happy with just these pictures. Maybe someday, we will all have to buy these electric cars whether we want to or not. I'm just happy with my new Ipad!
Our friend, Mary Jane,
asked if any of us wanted to go to the famous show: Cirque du Soleil? Oh, yes!!! I've always wanted to see one of these magnificent shows. She arranged for all of us to meet at Disney Springs where the show is held. This version is called “Drawn to Life” with a Disney theme. We had great seats in this unique auditorium tent. What a wonderful and entertaining presentation! The agility and contortions by the acrobats were awesome. We were happy to dine together outside the “Smokehouse of the House of Blues” restaurant. A wonderful time with wonderful friends! Thank you, Mary Jane!
Mary Jane didn't stop here....she organized all of us to meet at Frankie Farrell’s to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day. It's a great restaurant....wish you could have been there. Almost everyone got a typical Irish meal...except Cory and me....we are always different. Cory did do his part and partook in drinking an Irish Mule....yuck! Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!
Nourishing ourselves seems to be a major form of entertainment for us. Eat, Eat, and then Eat some more. No wonder I have to wear a burka! At least once a month, if not more often, our
activity director, Janet, arranges a potluck dinner for all of us to attend. It has a big turnout, providing a bountiful amount of delicious food. It is better than the “trough” (Golden Corral) and doesn't cost a cent. We all just bring a dish to pass. No one leaves hungry....or skinny....especially me.
Aloha! Last Saturday was a hottie! 96’.....we could have been in Hawaii! Janet organized a Luau party around the swimming pool here at TP. Live music entertained everyone. Cindy and Janet handed out colorful leis. A food truck was available for eats. Some of the folks took advantage and enjoyed the refreshing swimming pool. Later on, Nicki Jo had set up a “washer” tournament that many folks were happy to join.
We were happy to meet up with our Canadian friends, Mike & Terry. We met at the Route 66 restaurant. They offered a huge list of foods that you could select and eat as much as you wanted for $19.98. I didn't even want the temptation.....I don't know the word “moderation” so I just got an order of one of my favorites: calamari. Oh, Yummers! The other three went for the “All You Can Eat”.
They did well...they know the word “moderation”.....not me!
Our resident hospitality hostess, Mary Jane, arranged for a final get-together for us at Miller’s Ale House. She and Jim were leaving for home in Wisconsin the next day so this was kind of our Last Supper. Thank you, MJ, for ensuring we do more than drink coffee!
Yesterday, Cory and I took off for Daytona Beach. Our friend, Ray, had been there and told us how he drove on the beach and saw all the devastation left by Hurricane Nicole. We wanted to see it, too. Cory drove right up to the beach entrance and there we were.....driving on the hardened sand of Daytona Beach. Many beachgoers were enjoying the heat of the day and the serenity of the ocean. After noting a few sun worshippers, I decided, if we came again, I wouldn't have to wear a burka into the water. I could even wear a thong (but wouldn't...oh, gag...it makes me feel sick just writing it) hahaha....only if the sizeable, half-naked ladies I saw were still on the beach. Cory and I walked the beach for a while.....it was most enjoyable. But....listen---we were here to see the
devastation so let's get back to that. It was unbelievable! So much erosion. What seemed amazing to us was that tourists were still staying in some of these hotels that had no land in front of these huge structures....just a thin sand embankment. WOW! How could they be safe?? Very little reconstruction has been done and soon the turtle nesting season begins. That will halt any activity in the areas they pick for a nesting spot until October. Geeze.
We found a favorite spot to end our day: Buc-ee’s. Such a terrific store. Of course, we had to pick up a couple T-shirts. Sometimes I call Cory “Bucky” so what better item to wear than a shirt with his nickname (wrong spelling though) on it! Oh, Bucky.....I love you!
Tomorrow is a big day! Hmmmm.....what could it be, you ask? Hint: it happened 79 years ago. Hint: a boy baby was born (he had no teeth). HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bucky! ❤️🎂❤️🎂
Hold up, everyone. There's a glitch in my Travel Blog system. My 25 photos won't load, Rats! I have to do some investigative work now...may have to report this problem for assistance. There will be a delay
in publishing this blog. Hang on...be strong....we shall get this resolved HOPEFULLY! So Cory’s birthday may actually be the day this blog come out (March 30th). HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bucky again! ❤️🎂❤️🎂
