A nice view on our way to the campus.
I slept pretty well last night, waking up at about 7:30am or so. My wife woke up at 4am, hoping to see the Northern Lights, but was disappointed again. Well, we have 2 more nights to hope. Today we planned on visiting the Museum of the North, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Again, since there was no bus, we planned on walking there. We left the hostel around 9am, and walked down College Road to University Ave., then followed the phone up and around to the museum. We probably could have taken an easier/shorter route, but we didn't know. There were some nice views along the way. We reached the museum, paid our $16 each entry fee, for seniors, and started our tour. The museum is pretty big, with some cool stuff about history and other stuff from prehistoric to modern day. They even had an amphitheater where they were showing a film about the Northern Lights. After a couple hours touring the museum, we left and headed to the Fred Myers Supermarket.

The walk was pretty long, but it was downhill and we found a cutoff walking path. When we reached the "mall", we were surprised at how

Pretty panoramic view from the university.
big Fred Meyers store was. We went inside and immediately went looking for food, since it was already after 1:30pm. They had a pretty good selection of cold food, but also some good warm food, like chicken and ribs. We decided on a whole roasted chicken that was on sale for $5, normally $9.99. For a couple bucks more we added a container of coleslaw. We found out they had an eating area upstairs, so up we went. We sat and ate our lunch, while we admired the big store. After lunch I got a capuccino, while Manoli shopped for dinner and looked at other stuff. We were kind of surprised by the prices for stuff. Every thing seemed like it was 20 or 30 percent higher than back home in South Carolina.

With a small bag of stuff for dinner, we decided to walk the 2 or 3 miles back to the hostel. We arrived around 4pm, and I worked on the blogs while Manoli chilled out in the bedroom, hoping to take a nap. At about 7pm, she made dinner, consisting of the leftover chicken with beans and rice. It was pretty good.

Tomorrow we plan
