This morning had a spritely start! I was back in my room for about 10:30pm last night…I think! I had the time to totally reorganise my bag, ready for the homeward journey. Also prepared my clothes and handbag too! I definitely sleep better when organised. If I’m not, it puts me on a mental back foot! Consequently, I slept like a baby!Hence being spritely today!!
This morning we are heading for Belgium, so far so good. I’ve been watching a series of Cake Squad on my iPad to amuse myself! It’s a great tip for anyone travelling. Download programmes, series and films to your tablet or iPad before travelling. You can then view at your pleasure with no need for internet. Also, add a hdmi to iPad adapter to enable you to watch it on the hotel TV, as it is usually very limited viewing! I’ve also enjoy the Queen Charlotte series from Netflix.
We stopped 60 miles away from Brugge for a quick comfort stop. Another ExPat bus stopped along side us just before we left. It was only a 15 minute break, so we were soon back on the road!
So far, there’s not been many photo
opportunities as it’s motorway, with lorries to my right, all the way!
Like Amsterdam, Brugge isn’t a real treat for me, but I’ll still enjoy it. It’s because of the fact that we have ferries that leave my town of Hull, they sail straight over to Brugge, Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Zebrugge. So it’s a very simple, easy and cheap option for a weekend away for me. So I’ve done it many times. With that said, every trip is a welcome bonus!
We arrived in Brugge at 11:30. We got a bit of free time in the city. For me, it’s another , ‘meander’ day. take a stroll along cobblestone streets, admire the historic buildings, stock up on Belgian chocolate, I indulged in way too many Florentine, how can you not? Also got some for on the bus…. And done for home… I love Florentines!!! After coffee… obviously, but WITH coffee..perfecto 💕💕💕
It’s extra good because I’m day on the corner, opposite the meeting place. No rush, no getting lost… I’m here!…..
….. and then……
Oh no! Bloody hell…. I’m in the wrong place, I grabbed my coffee to go and rushed a further 5 minutes to the
other end of the street to the correct rendezvous point! So much for my relaxing planning and preparation.. ha ha
After Bruges, all laden down, and full of every type of chocolate available!it’s time to continue the last leg of the journey back to London. Dunkirk, which here we come!
Customs went well for everyone, no hiccups! The first stop was to get our passports stamped by the French officers. They were so straight faced, not a flicker of emotion; then 20 steps in to the English, obviously they’ve got questions they must ask, but it was all done with humour and smiles in a friendly manner.,.. maybe that’s tactical!
When everyone got individually questioned about their onward travels and hotel stays…. I felt very, ‘beige’! As the only Brit onboard, I’m definitely a minority, but it was all good.
On the ferry we go!
Goodbye France
We arrived back in Uk at 5:30pm (clocks have now gone back an hour!) I am on my final leg of this journey, but for everyone else, they have long flights ahead of them!
Off we go to London! It should take about 2 hours, depending on traffic.
I think it was quite a bit longer, as there was lots of traffic at that time!
It was a quick turn around in the room as we are meeting for, ‘last night’ drinks. Awwww…. It was such a great night! Everyone has bonded so well. The drinks were flowing, the laughs were loud, and our hearts were full.
Ps, I didn’t take photos, but I’m sure more will come later!!!
