After leaving Dutch Harbor it was a five day passage across the Bering Sea and the North Pacific Ocean to our first port of call in Japan. Every night we added an extra hour of sleep as we crossed multiple time zones and then lost a day as we crossed the International Dateline. There was plenty to do on those sea days as Silversea packed the daily schedule with interesting events and activities. The Assistant Cruise Director gave iPhone lessons and he even set up my phone with a SIM card so it would work in Japan. There were two Arts and Crafts instructors on board offering jewelry making classes, water color painting, dot art and origami folding classes. There were dance and bridge lessons available. Hello everyone DAY25 We VIsited Isafjordur in Iceland which is on the shores of Skutulsfjorour,on the northern point of Iceland.it was a small town about 1000 Inhabitants. Next day we visited Akureyri which is one of the biggest towns,about 20,000 inhabitants in Iceland. We joined the on and off bus around the city,we did a bit of shopping,there was more to choose from,as the other -places were very small That was our last stop in Iceland,we are now heading to Copenhagen,1199 nautical miles,2 days at sea. hope You enjoy the few photos KS... read more

DAY 23 SEES US ARRIVE IN OUR FINAL PORT IN GREENLAND QAQORTOQ. pronounced Kar-hor-tock,its the largest city in Southern Greenland with 3000 inhabitants. Lots of coloured houses. Hello Everyone We left Nuuk in rain and fog,not long into the journey our Captain made an announcement that the Danish authorities had been in touch To say they are to many big ice bergs on the way to ILULISSAT so we changed direction and headed for Nanortalik the most southern town in Greenland,1,000 people live there,it’s like time has stood still for many folk,the people were so friendly to us and they sold products on the side of road,it was a beautiful place ,feel so privileged to have seen it. We are now headed for the Tasermiut Fjord in southwesternGreenland it is a 70 kilometre long fjord.Administratively it is part of the Kujalleq municipality we get there about 10 in the morning and cruise through till 5pm,our next port to dock will be Qaqortoq Enjoy ... read more

Hi Every one Yesterday has got to be the best day of the tour,we arrived at 11oclock sailing into Prins Christian Sund,it’s 100km long and it is narrow sometimes only 500 metres wide,it is surrounded by steep mountains. THE Fjord is dotted with many glaciers We spent about 6 hrs to get through and it was magic. There is a very small village there only about 100 people live there,you will see on the photos. Last night we left the sounds and headed towards Nuuk,we will travel 393 nautical miles in a North westerly direction in the Labrador Sea. It’s getting a bit more colder as we go further,but on the whole the weather has been brilliant,going through the sund was sunny. enjoy the photos KS... read more

Hi everyone We arrived in Reykjavik Iceland,which is the worlds most Northerly capital,on a most glorious friday morning at 7am,sun was shining,the weather has certainly been good to us so far. The Pearl is the number 1 attraction Reykjavik it’s the biggest nature museum in Iceland,it is situated on the top of Oskjuhlio hill. The building consists of a vast glass dome resting on top of 6 district heating tanks,4 of them are still in use,one hosts a real ice cave,and one has been turned into a planetarium,from the Pearl there a stunning view of the city. Kevin and I have been having a hot tub dip most days at sea. Tonight we have left Reykjavik in beautiful sunshine,we watched the pilot boat leave us. Hello everyone We left Germany and our next stop was Orkney islands,when we docked we went on coach trip around the island. We saw Standing stones of Stenness is a Neolithic Monument,five miles north east of Stromness on the mainland of Orkney. We visited Stromness another small island where Dr John Rae Arctic explorer was born 1813 to 1893.we have had lovely days of sun So we hope that will continue for us all. We also visited an Italian chapel it is a highly ornate Catholic chapel,it was built during world war 2 by Italian prisoners of war. It was constructed with limited materials,it’s very beautiful inside. Our next stop is STORNAWAY in the Hebrides lovely Town ,very old buildings,Bagpipes were played for us,we spied a good coffee shop As the coffee for me on boat ... read more
