The drive to Lalibela was great, the bitumen was new and the bends sweeping cambered and sweet. The climb up saw us reach an altitude of 3650mtrs and the Shorty was definitely struggling for breath, the exhaust fumes were thick and black!! The upper world was almost hard to recognise as Africa the people were dressed as you would expect in Afghanistan and we even passed and Aid distribution centre… now on that topic I am buggered why Ethiopians need aid at all. The whole country we have seen so far has been farming and the crops are numerous and plentiful.. In my opinion the Ethiopians appear to have become dependant on foreign aid and it does not appear they are utilising their own resources effectively. The population is 80million and is expected to hit 120 million by 2020.. Man, Aid needs to be stopped and let them sort themselves out before the country explodes… Now the Rock hewn churches have always been on my list of things to see and it was impressive, not as detailed as the stuff seen in India or Cambodia, however it was still impressive… Flea's yep lots of then.. we sprayed out pants

Nice place for a banana
and socks with Roach Killer before entering any church, and I am happy to report no bites were received. However I (Darren) now have a small patch or irritated skin on my foot, Humm that's probably why the can indicated not to pray onto skin… Flea's or rash.. I think the rash..

At about 60 cents for a coffee Darren is loving Ethiopia. The coffee part is like tar and the other bit is condensed milk.
