Rio to Ilha Grande

I am sitting in a little internet cafe on the beach in Ilha Grande. This is an island about 150km SouthWest of Rio. It is beautiful and the moment I got here I knew it was just what I needed. The first 5 days of my trip have been pretty full on and I am really looking forward to just relaxing chilling and rechaging the batteries. Rio is a fantastic city and I felt a lot safer than I had belie

My stay in Rio isn't going exactly as planned. With the exception of last Thursday morning the weather has been consistently bad sometimes even raining heavily. As a result Rio' s main tourist attractions the beaches and the two hills overlooking the city are off limits. Instead I went on a favela tour hanged out in markets wandered around the centre a bit but mostly during the day I have

Last time we wrote we were off to find Jesus. Unfortunately he proved very aloof and hid behind some clouds all day and we basically saw his feet and shadowy outline in the clouds and that was it. Which was a pitty as Kiran was goning to reenact some of the scenes from Romeo and Juliet she gave it a go anyway.I think Jesus was hiding from all the horrible lies happening in the gift shop below..

So we have hit Brazil and have travelled from the Iguazu Falls again they looked just as awesome from the other side if not more impressive through to Curitiba and then up to Rio de Janeiro via a small island called Ihla do Mel.Brazilians do live up to the reputation of being amazingly helpful happy and beautiful people well at least the majority of the ones we have met.
We arrive in Rio after a 24 hour bus journey from Iguazu although the thought of a 24 hour bus sounds horrendous this one is actually pretty good it has massive seats which recline almost to a bed they show films and serve food and drinks the scenery is pretty good too. I almost dont want to get off When we arrive in Rio it is hot although not uncomfortable. We arrive at our hostel in Ipa

Its been a couple of weeks now since my last update and i now have a few moments to let you know what ive been up to since then. After leaving Cordoba I originally intended to stay in Iguazu for 5 nights in order to see the falls and have a few days lounging by the pool. This however turned into nearly a fortnight due to unforseen reasons i.e. my card was eaten by an ATM machine. Fortunatly I had

Of course Jody had to check out the Ipanema Hippie Fair. The Sunday street fair dates back to the 70's which is when it got its nickname. The hippies used to display their crafts and other goods for locals to buy. Since then it has expanded to many different types of artisans with their crafts from all over Brazil. Our favorite buy of the day was tapioca. We loved it so much we bought it in 2
