Village Life on Bunaken.

One day after our usual morning snorkel the clouds began to gather so we decided to go and explore the village after lunch. It was about a 30 minute walk from Lorenzo's. We'd set off another day but turned back as the temperature soared and there was little shade on the roadway. Today however with the lack of sunshine it made for a pleasant stroll. We spent a lovely afternoon speaking to the fri

We decided to leave Bunaken and see what else Sulawesi had to offer. We spent Monday in Manado on the mainland which was a nightmare dirty noisy traffic everywhere and road signs that were impossible to follow We managed to do the essentials like Internet and buying eardrops which we were both in need of badly. None of the hotels within our budget had a shower instead they had a 'mandi' wh

Coral Gardens and Beach Bonfires

The next couple of days we spent snorkelling relaxing and eating. The coral reef was reached by wading through the muddy mangrove water then swimming about 100 feet. From there the coral dropped down a huge steep slope like a rock garden so many colours and varieties probably the best wersquove come across ever. The fish were amazing too large ones tiny ones and every colour you can imagine

We flew from Bali to Manado in Sulawesi to go diving at an island called Bunaken. I worry that the nondivers out there will be bored with all of the underwater stuff so I've put a few above water pics first. While we were on the island we walked to another dive resort one night where some local guys were playing music. The lead sang into a microphone carved of wood and the drummer hammered on

Well It's seems I've neglected my loyal readers for a long time now. But the truth is I wasn't really in a writting mood. But Since the weeks are piling up since the last entry I figured I better get off my ass and write something before I start to forget all the details of my life since the the last blog. I actually uploaded the pictures for this blog about a month ago now but just didn't know w

Diving in Sulawesi

After months of waiting for my contract and visa I finally moved to Papua New Guinea in January 2007. So far it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I'll hopefully publish an entry on life here soon.... Nonetheless after spending 4 months in Port Moresby I was quite ready for a little break. The opportunity came when I met up with my parents and brother for a scubadiving reunion i
