Oklahoma and Texas again

Oklahoma was revealed through foggy and dusty morning air. Again the diversity of the landscape was stunning. One side of the road would be overtaken over by rolling red hills and huge pointed mounds of red dirt that gave a very rugged worn feel while the other side of the road would be completely flat. The land told a story of a very worn roughened and tough life. The feeling of insignificance

Grace and I woke up in Tulsa this morning I think that is the same place we went to bed last night. I was too tired to care. It was kind of a dive of a motel down in the industrial area of Southern Tulsa but it was close to Route 66 and it had a keyboard even though the spacebar didn't work very well.
Elvis has left the building

We left Memphis yesterday after visiting Graceland. On one side of Elvis Presley Boulevard is some hideous complex that holds various exhibits including his jets and cars. The war memorabilia of Elvis was worth seeing as it had many little ration and equipment cards his uniforms and the story of meeting Priscilla. Mostly I thought this side of the street was poorly setup with the main goal of get

deep in the heart of Texas Although I am not in Texas anymore...nor New Mexico for that matter...I still have the lonestar state on the brain Yesterday was a tough day because I was in a lousy mood. I have not been sleeping well on the road and its starting to catch up to me. I am sure my parents are feeling the wrath of Mary as well. It seems nobody benefits when I am overtired We left

Day 206

Obfuscator writes When we left our motel in the morning we had a few Amarillo stops in mind for the day. First we headed a bit west of the city to what is known as the Cadillac Ranch. Here in the middle of a big empty field sit 10 old Cadillacs. Well perhaps sit isn't the right term. They're all buried nose first in a row in the big empty field. That's not necessarily the most impressiv

Thursday 13th Wayne and I went to the hospital for appointment with Orthopaedic Doctor who wanted more xrays on ankle and wrist to ensure all okay. Took most of the morning whilst Chris and Dean collected the Uhaul van strapped the bikes in securely and changed the drop off to Las Vegas as no Eaglerider depot in Santa Fe. Headed towards the boarder 'run for the boarder' stopped at a couple

Welcome to Day Two We woke up this morning around 8am showered ate some cereal and headed out on the road. We got a bit turned around in the beginning just finding our way back to Route 66 but after we found it it was smooth sailing....we kind of. We finished up Missouri and continued on to Kansas a whopping 13.2 miles In Kansas we passed over the Marsh Arch Bridge the last of its kind
