Our annual baseball and arts roadtrip took us to the city of Detroit. I'd been there once for work and didn't care for it too much. But for the sake of getting another ballpark out of the way I was willing to give the city another chance. The trip also went through Indianapolis IN Windsor ON Lansing MI South Bend IN and Omaha NE.

We were surprised and very happy to find that with a Verizon phone the audio tour of the museum was free Apparently they have a deal set up with Verizon to allow customers to dial THF 843 3134834098 for nonVerizon and then enter individual item num

4th July 2008Yesterday after our trip to Peele point we were all hungry and Amy had spotted Shermans resturant almost next to the Ramada Inn where we where staying. Despite our original misgivings it turned out very well. I managed to get a roast beef dinner with a salad bar starter for 1175 less than six pounds and also had apple crumble and ice cream.
Well after almost two weeks with my parents I'm on the move again currently in the Detroit airport. My plane to Manila leaves in three hours with one stop in Tokyo. I'm sitting in front of the gate for a flight going to Paris because that's the only place I could find a free outlet. We laptop people fight over them.Across from me are two orangeclad monks eating hamburgers. They'll have fu

So the trip is off to a good start. The airplane sat on the tarmac in Ottawa for 1.5 hours while the crew sorted out a baggage problem. Unfortunately this caused me to miss the connection in Detriot to Tokyo and there were no other flights on other airlines that would get me there today. So my best option was to take the free hotel and dinner. All drinks on the flight as a result were gratis

The last flight a red eye from LA to DTW was the 15th we had taken on our trip and the 1st one where we lost a bag. OK not lost but delayed. Somehow 2 of our bags made our flight and the 3rd decided it wanted to stay on the road a bit longer and hitched a ride to Minneapolis first. It was an amazing trip and I hope that our pictures

Pontiac knows how to party. The World Cup was the excuse they needed. There are people everywhere in downtown Pontiac. Beer stands everywhere. Especially the Bud girl. Long brown hair and wearing a very tight Budweiser dress. A beautiful sight. As close to art as Budweiser could ever come. And the tequila troops. Bottles in their holsters shot glasses in their cartridge belts. A girl recognizes

It was a pretty uneventful plane ride to Detroit. Detroit is the most beautiful airport I have ever seen. It had some interesting dynamic art installations in the tunnels between terminals. Everything looked modern and clean.
This weekend we spent in Detroit. We'd heard before that this is one of the world's most bizarre cities in that the whole downtown is more or less evacuated and everyone lives outside and this was also more or less true. We could stay at a dorm at Wayne State university which is perhaps a couple of kilometers from the city centre and here there were some activities but we realised that they a
