Not the last blog about Argentina...but I guess the last blog published outside of Buenos Aires....end of June is coming pretty fast. After 18 hours on the bus we made it to Mendoza from Salta. I knew there was not a lot to see in the city. The fun here is just outside town. Regardless Mendoza is a very peaceful city...full of gorgeous restaurants I would certainly not mind moving here for an e

High Mountains Tour

For our last full day in Mendoza we had booked ourselves into a high mountains tour. Speaking with a French guy at the hostel he mentioned that we should go to the Cristo Redentor de los Andes Christ the Redeemer of the Andes a monument placed on the border of Argentina and Chile on the old highway between the two countries at 4000 metres above sea level. The intention of the monument was to

Mendoza continued ...

As mentioned in the last post we were intending on Saturday night on finding the free wine tasting that the Mendoza council had put on . However we did not find it. Thinking back on it now i think i know where we saw it but it did not look right... Anyways instead we ventured up to the bar area of Mendoza and walked up and down looking for a place that was 1. open as it was only 8pm 2.

Mendoza initial days and thoughts

We arrive in Mendoza at 7am after a 10hr bus ride from Cordoba. We had travelled first class as the bus was direct and the seats only an extra 60 pesos each 12 U.S. This meant that the seats lied flat. However we only figured out right at the end how to extend the leg rests completely flat stupid tourists... At least we know for next time. We have also found that a good way to help sleep on

Set in the heart of Argentina39s wine region the beautiful city of Mendoza was the next stop on our journey. After another night bus we arrived at 8am and walked the short distance from the bus terminal to our base for the next three days Hostel Mora. We were greeted with a breakfast of pancakes while we waited to check into our dorm. It was a nice gesture as we hadn39t stayed there the

Mendoza is a beautiful little town very walkable and easy to navigate thanks to five large plazas. The biggest Plaza Independencia is right in the middle of town and is surrounded by four smaller plazas. They all have fountains beautiful tiles and monuments. There39s lots of pedestrian streets and an impressive canalirrigation system. On January 8 2013 we arrived in Mendoza shortly after

We komen weer midden in bijzonde

This was my first day in Argentina and so I didn39t really know what to expect the bus from Mendoza to the Bodegas in nearby Maipu however was a good indicator of how things would

Livvy and Ru39s last birthday present to me was something special I would like to do on this trip. A trip out to a winery in the Valle de Uco fitted the bill. I will let the photos do most of the talking except for saying that the wine was exceptionally good as wellThe bodega is about 10 years old a modern concrete design which works well I think. No photos of that they are on my camera bu
