If everything arrived on time we would hit the city around lunchtime and then the plan was to see what buses were leaving to get us to the pacific coast. Inparticular we wanted to get to a small place called Playa Samara which seemed to get good reviews in the LP for being quiet and unspoil

Kate So we had a bit of an akward flight to Costa Rica from L.A not because anything went wrong but just because it was at 2 am and we had to stop over in Guatemala for about and hour before getting to San Jose so all in all is was around a 7 hour journey. By the time we got our luggage and hailed a taxi to take us to our hotel it was around 10am. We got to our hotel a typical Best Western tha

We are now back in San Jose overnight and we fly to Cancun tomorrow. Our first month was spent in Playa Tamarindo a fairly small town on the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
We arrive in the much over talked Tamarindo where we were expecting it to be LA. It was nice pricier than everywhere else but we scored a good deal. As Ross and I went to check out a hostel we sent Danny and Barbara to a hotel it recommended in our book they dont do hostels and when we met back they had no rooms only apartments and she let them have the apartment for the price of a room.
I made it to Costa Rica last night. The flight was pretty unventful and uncomfortable but for 190 Im willing to sit on the floor if needs be.I expected Tamarindo to be a resort paradise but I never expected this horror. I suppose I'm still thinking of Granada full of tourism but still unspoilt apart from Hurricane Ivan. In all my years of travelling I've been to many areas affected

Ok our last stop was supposed to be three relaxing days in Costa Rica....or at least that was the intention. As it turned out we had a couple of nice days at the beach but the hassle of getting to and from Tamarindo made it less enjoyable than it could have been. The highlight was watching a sea turtle lay about 60 or so eggs on the beach...very cool.Anyway we are now in London and are about

After Liberia we headed to the west coast for some more picturesque beaches. First stop was Tamarindo very nice beach and another place with amazing sunsets. The only problem was it was very touristy with lots of American holiday makers which in turn made the place expensive. You can tell how much this place has changed in the last 2 years as the info in the lonely planet was very oudated and

Our Nacho expedition came to a quick end when we mistakenly thought Joe's was closed for a company Holiday Party. Because clearly we had no idea it was Thursday and not Wednesday. From there we wandered to the much publicized Stella's who demanded a reservation despite 90 of the tables being empty. We made a reservation for Friday night while we there. We ended up at Pizzeria Portofino see
