El Nido Land Near Many Islands

El Nido is an 8 hour bus ride from Puerto Princesa or 6 boat ride from Sabang which is how I got there. This is a must see if you are in Palawan. While in El Nido you must do the following1. Go on an island tour Tour A Tour C2. Rent a kayak from Art Cafe Start at 8AM for 12 day. You will have too much fun and end up paying for a full day but you'll get your money's worth.3. Rent motorc

Sabang Stay for a while

Sabang is an easy destination from Puerto Princesa. One could take a bus from San Jose station near Puerto Princesa or can book an underground river tour from Puerto Princesa do the tour which takes about 2 hours and then check into the hotel this is what I did. The undergroung river tour is interesting the most exciting part for me was getting there by boat which can be pretty exciting.

Things to Do in Puerto Princesa

Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan and is where you can take most flights from Manila and Cebu. I stayed at D'Lucky Garden which is close to the airport offers Wifi accepts credit cards and has a decent restaurant. Tours can be booked directly from the hotel. Honda Bay was the first tour where you visit 3 islands in one day. I went on a day that started off cloudy with showers and

Another laid back town

I still remember how my Dad used to tell us how he hates riding small propeller passenger planes and I wasnrsquot expecting that I was gonna ride one today. I could hear the engine roaring outside during the entire flight and the plane making a clumsy stomp when we finally landed at the Busuanga Airport. The flight wasnrsquot too bad thanks to the good weather but Irsquod still rather ride

A scary ocean crossing indeed followed by unexpected hospitality Coron Palawan Philippines

Day 549 on the road Leaving El Nido was a lot more difficult than anticipated. Ongoing typhoon warnings caused all ferries and flights from El Nido to be cancelled for days on end. I had already booked a flight from the island of Coron about eight hours north by boat for the day after tomorrow and when I found out that the overnight ferry I had been hoping to take was cancelled I was starting

Day 546 on the road There are places in the world that are just perfect for people taking pictures of them. And then there are places like the Bacuit Archipelago in the Philippines where I am at the moment that no matter how many pictures you take of them their true beauty can never be captured in a photograph. This place here is so amazing I sometimes had to pinch myself to believe it is real

Day 538 on the road The guidebook had called Manila airport dirty chaotic and dark. I was expecting the worst but instead after arriving here from Taipei I found it superclean well signposted and modern. Maybe they have recently upgraded it or I arrived at a different terminal Leaving the airport I braced myself for the usual army of taxi drivers and other hawkers but I found nothing.
I spent holy week in Palawan with my family for our bienial family reunion. My family flew ahead of me because i wasnt allowed to go on leave coz there were a lot of clients in the bank before the long weekend. So I flew alone a day after they did. The NAIA terminal 3 was gorgeous. Its been a while since the last time I flew on an airplane before last week. And the last time i was on a plane i co

Perspective

I was unfortunate enough to visit a Filipino jail house. My iPod had mysteriously vanished on a bus ride through the island of Cebu. It had dropped onto the floor and mysteriously found it's way into a fellow passenger's bag. Gone. So I had the dubious pleasure of sitting in the San Vicente Pulis Station for 2 hours while the casually dressed cop laboriously filled out a report. He was wearing the

It has been about five days since my last post so Irsquoll try to catch you up. When you last heard from me I was in Baguio City. Our time there was lovely and included many unforgettable times. We took a jeepney to the marketmdashnot just any marketmdashbut the market. I already mentioned several fruits that are available here but the very best one is called lychee. Lychee is a small re

Philippines you're doing it wrong. Your food is feral and your toilets do nothing to alleviate the pain that the food causes. For many first time and uninitiated Asian travelers it is the image of the infamous Asian squat toilets that bring on a case of the heebiejeebies. Let me assure you it can get a lot worse than the squat pan. The Philippines has had a long social political and military a

As a result we've been unable to conclude the Filipino chapter of our adventures.
18.01.09 El Nido is to me what the Philippines is known for. Beautiful beaches great seafood as yet unruined by high rise developments. We only spent two and a half days in El Nido though I wish it had been longer. During that time we discovered that most of the accommodation was pretty pricey and bad value. We stayed somewhere that was not pricey but still represented bad value in my opinion
