Brisbon rain heat and goon

Well...so...yeh...Rain darn rain ok well it hasn't exactly been raining all of the days but it has rained rather a lot. However apart from talking about the weather all of the time it is also quite hot and when the sun is shining its rather pleasant. On the whole Brisbane is quite a nice city its not full to the brim of endless things to do but is on the right side of busy in my opinion.

Brisbane The River City

Hi everyone Greetings from Brisbane. We arrived enthusiastically here early on the 14th June a Sunday so everywhere seemed quiet and calm. We had booked our hostel before we left and were instructed to get off the airport train at Brunswick Street unfortunately though the station was called Fortitude Valley and it took us a few train journeys to get to the right place following that the hoste

Living not travelling in Brisbane

Settling inSo I was staying at the Billy Tin Backpacker Hostel on George Street and like other backpacker joints Irsquod previously stayed in there were a lot oflong termers. In amongst all this were the other the transient folk from Germany France Korea Taiwan who were working as slave labour in fruit picking. Or the GermansFrench who were out here and were so bloody young it was painful.

Brisbane Australien

Leider

So the time came to pack up our rucksacks and hit the road again. We had our dinner on our last night in a lovely Irish bar steak mash and gravy of course and said a final farewell to Sydney. It was a strange feeling leaving lsquohomersquo again and we were a little sad having made some great friends and really settled in but we were really excited to start the next leg of the adventure. We

Checked out Parliament House the over day too. It's kinda wierd living here for a couple of years and not actually going to see the Parliament House but i'm sure there's millions of people here who can't say they've been. It was cool to soak up all the history as well.

Days 1 and 2 mostly oblivion

Brisbane in a Day. I thinkNewcastle is such a great airport to fly from. Easily accessible easy to park car and easy to check in and get to the gate. I think we accomplished all together with coffee in hand in just 10minutes.We spent the quick 1 14 hr reading and snoozing and contemplating the plethora of key developments up the coast. Wouldn't like to own property there with imminent sea leve

Hiccups and packing

Getting flu and a secondary infection of bronchitis was not the smartest thing to do but I have done it. Stout hearted to the last I shall ignore the doctor's dire warnings of death by pneumonia and play the fair maiden relying on my partner to carry the bags and deal with all the aggravations caused by airline staff and the like. I have visions of reclining on the bed in the camper van whilst

Brisbane and Surrounds

Preparing for BrisbaneOh you might say how boring Australians seem to have a 'thing' about Brisbane deriding its parochialness and small town mentality. I think it might be a leftover from the awful Jo or is it Joe who tainted so much of Queensland with his huge brush. Should that be tarred thenThe travel blog is a way for me to become used to this before we head off on a wonderful trip to I

Decided to check out the Botanical Gardens today. Have been there for various things once or twice before but thought i'd actually spend a fair bit of time there and see what was really happening. I did the rainforest walk and strolled around the gardens today and am going back tomorrow for a formal walking tour and to check out Old Government House cant wait

East Coast Road Trip Day 6 Brisbane

Day 6We reluctantly have to check out of our hostel today and make our way over to Tamborine Mountain about 25km 15 miles west of Surfers Paradise. The plan is to do a ropes course at the Thunderbird Adventure Parc as we never got a chance to do one at Tasmania. The roads are all uphill not surprising when going up a mountain and poor Trixie bell doesnrsquot like it much especially as she

City Life...

... is getting boring. Up the coast in Brisbane now. As soon as I got off the plane the heat hit me. It certainly feels a lot hotter than Sydney. This place has a subtropical climate so its only gonna get hotter as I head up the coast. Finally recovered from my drinking exploits in Manly. As I correctly predicted I done nothing that day and just read my book. In fact I've finished 2 books this
