We had booked a room along Tulum beach for our last few nights to treat ourselves a little. It was a funny coincidence that Steve was actually staying at the exact same place on the same date for one night. We had our last amazing breakfast at our hostel and received huge hugs from Chelo as we said goodbye. We shared a car with steve to coco tulum one of the many Eco chic cabana style hotels that

I knew our hostel was a little out of town so we decided to eat before heading up. We found a cheap looking local place across the road and pulled up a seat. We ordere

On our third day in cancun we woke to cloudy skies though still hot we decided to take it easy today and head to plaza las Americas a large local mall. So after another large fruit based breakfast we caught another bus to the mall. We were surprised at just how large the mall is when you start to explore it and were pleased to find that it was aimed more at locals rather than tourists like the

We awoke at my grandmothers house in Sydney Australia the day of our flights she had offered to drive us to the airport and we greatfully accepted. We had freshly squeezed juice for breakfast and the best smoothie and salad for lunch before hopping in the car with my little sister and grandmother headed to the airport. Our flight was to leave at 3.30 and after only a brief hiccup at the check in

10 day trip to Holbox and Isla de Mujeres and surrounding areas. Holbox is a relaxing place especially on weekdays during the nonpeak seasons. Peak seasons are June thru August for whale shark viewing Easter and Christmas. Most of the rest of the times there are modern airconditioned rooms available for 500 pesos. One can pay more but there39s no need. I rented a bike for a week and with

We then took a taxi to the bus station and got on a chicken bus which would take us to the Mexican border crossing in the town of Santa Elena we arrived as the sun was setting and took a taxi from there to the bus station in Chetumal. Their daughter Jodie her husband Elton and their six kids affectionately nicknamed as The Six Pack are also here this year at the same time as us for one month.
If it wasn39t for bad luck we39d have no luck at all with our kitchen appliances. Our coffee maker is now leaking so bad that it39s pretty much unusable. Then while Ian is making breakfast our toaster starts on fire and burns out at the same time our microwave decides to pack it in and there39s no power to it at all. They are all super cheap appliances to start with. Our maintenanc

After Johnny39s scuba school we are starving so we take him to La Choza for lunch which is Ian39s favorite Mexican restaurant downtown in San Miguel. It39s busy with local Mexicans as usual. We like the atmosphere it39s very clean and comfortable for a large restaurant nicely decorated. The food is always good and service is great. We soak up some sun lounging around the pool for a while before Ian and John walk down to the dive shop to pick up another snorkel mask.On the way back Ian stops by the massage place next door and makes arrangements for Amabel the masseur to come by our condo and give us each a 40 minute massage.
To mark a last day in Cancun we thought it was right to spend it on the famous beach in the Zona Hotelia. We opted to pay to sit the Cabana beach bar it was meant to be 100 pesos each but for some reason they charged 50 pesos each. We didnt mind. It was a good choice as you got to use the sun lounger and there fresh water pool as we overlooked the gorgeous beach. We had some pretty good lunch

We headed out to the bank to withdraw some money. This seemingly simple task took us 45 minutes it wasnt until the 4th bank of trying that we actually managed to get some cash.
