La Costa

Hi all Life on the coast of Colombia is quite the paradise. Arriving to this paradise is a whole other story. Our journey to the north coast began on Wednesday afternoon September 17th at 330 pm. The bus was quite comfy large reclining chairs and TVs. These conditions are ideal for bus rides up to 12 hours. Try and double that with a dose of drunken vomiting teenagers 2 mechanical breakdow

Some 4 days and 8 buses later with a short stop off in Atacamas Ecuador we me and the crazy Italian were in Columbia. Not much to say about Ecuador except its the first time in my life where Ive lied about my age to make myslef younger. I know can you believe it even with a baby face like mine I was saying I was 18. Atacamas is like the Newquay of England with as many young aspiring teenag

Santa Marta Tayrona Park

Santa MartaWe reached Santa Marta after a very early departure 4AM from Maracaibo Venezuela. The trip was uneventful except for police blockades many passport checks and a maniac driver in our Por Supuesto Shared taxi basically an old Chevy or Ford with a 5 litre engine. We booked into a very nice hostel called Hotel Nueve Granada. This is probably one of the nicest places we have stayed

Tayrona National Park paradise in a hammock

After asking around in Taganga we found a boat to take us 1 hour round the coast to Cabo San Juan de la Guia in the Tayrona National Park. The first couple of people we asked wanted a lot of money 50000 and 40000 each but then we met John hanging out on the beach and he does it for 35000 pesos per person as he's a friendly chatty guy that easily puts groups together about 14 went out on our bo

The day had finally arrived for me to be sitting on a beach taking in the tranquility........a feat I had been trying to obtain for many months and had pretty much given up on as there are very few good beaches in the countries I had been in. Sharyn and I got ourselves organised and then got a lift into Santa Marta with Santiago to catch the bus out to the Parque Tayrona. In Santa Marta we had t

Tayrona National Park a little bit of heaven except for the chickens and the skull cracking falling coconuts.... and the horses who EAT everything including the last three chapters of my murder thriller before Id finished it Oh and the mosquitos carrying dengue fever But I guess the balmy waters of the Carribean where we skinny dipped in the rain and the gold dust mica which is mixed i

Hiking through the jungle white sand beaches stomach problems nomads hippies vanilla skies and lightning storms..i.e. my first encounter of one of Colombia's biggest natural attractions Parque Nacional Tayrona. I knew about Colombia's natural beauty I heard of Parque Tayrona but I didn't have any idea of what to really expect. First off Tayrona park is enormous. I only spent one night there

After I sweated it out on the mammoth trek I headed To Parque National Tyrona with Tamzin and Paul. The nation park was absolutely beautiful and contained prefect beaches white sand palm trees and turquoise water. It was a very stressful couple of days alternating between working on my tan swimming and reading. I managed to survive the hardship I was face with and emerged browner than ever

Parque Nacional Tayrona

Close to Tatanga is Tayrona National Park which has some beautiful beaches on a jungle covered coast. It was hassle to get their as we had to get a local bus to the park and then walk for a further 2 hours to Cabo a place on the beach we wanted to stay which is most popular with travelers and we could see why. looking back it might of been easier to get a boat direct to the beach as there must

I just spent a few days on the caribe of columbia. That does good things for a body. Found some really sick body surfing some of the best of my trip maybe the best The beaches were amazing. You had to hike in a few miles in to Park Tayrona. Oh man...then you just relax and sleep in hammocks. Anyone who misses columbia is sure missing a lot. I know that it could be dangerous but it doesnt fe

After taking a four hour bus ride from Santa Marta on the north coast of Colombia I arrive at the national park entrance decided to walk to the beaches which is a bit of a mistake even at 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon through jungle trails and off road paths. Most visitors here seem to take the jeep from the park entrance and then a 20 or 30 minute horse ride through the thick trails to fins the u
