Had a good train ride to Chennai. Slept for about 75 of the thirtytwo hour journey. The rest of the time was spent eating and reading a book by Coelho thanks MM.No one really talked to me which must mean that I fit in well.Once in Chennai I got into a autorickshaw and looked for a place to stay. Everywhere was too expensive 1000rs 800rs and my driver got mad at me for not giving him e

Well not much as some rascal decided to relieve me of my wallet and my mobile phone while I was getting on the bus at Badami It was one of those situations where you have to fight with another hundred people to try to get onboard the local bus... Lots of pushing and shoving and squeezing to get through the bus door and then you notice that something is missing And I noticed straight away but wh

Mahabalipuram Tamil Nadu

I've been back in India for a week and the traveling has already begun On Saturday afternoon Homyar and I drove 50km south to Mahabalipuram. Finding the way to a new place is always a challenge in India since there are hardly any street signs. After a few false turns we found the East Coast Road which took us straight to Mahabalipuram. As we approached the hot muggy dusty air of Chennai

Tiger's Cave

Here is what's called the Tiger's Cave. Apparently this was hidden under water at first. There is another one that was recently discovered about 2 years ago. The area around this temple is really quiet not a lot of tourists like the other temples in Mahabalipuram. When I say tourists I mean Indian tourists mostly. Didn't see many westerners until we hit the Hotel Seabreeze.

I woke up early one morning to try and catch the fishermen heading out. Too early it was rainy and the tides had risen far enough for anyone to start heading out. Did get some pics of the boats and the beach.

More temples in Mahabalipuram. These are the 5 rathas sp. Four are carved out of the same piece of rock. Can't remember anything about them other than that. I know sad right you would think I would take the time to find out more about how they were found what they represent...I didn't. Was all templed out by the end of this day.

Okay here are some pictures of Mahabalipuram. I really enjoyed being here. It was quiet and didn't have the traffic and noise of Bangalore. We stayed at a small hotel called the SeaBreeze there were a whole lot of tourists. The most I've seen since being here but I guess that's the difference between working in India and traveling around I go to work go home eat out every now and again and rep

Hello everyone Tiruvannamalai was great we did make it to the top of the mountain it was the hardest hike I've done in a long time and actually the top was a bit disapointing the rocks were black and polluted from all the candles and oil that has been burned there. We couldn't stay for the full moon because the rooms were double in price and we decided

After bribing the ticket controller with the equivalent of 1 EUR which seems to represent a fortune for him we managed to get 2 seats for the 50 km up to Mamallapuramalso known as Mahabalipuram. It took almost 2 hours but considering all the vehicles on the road including cattle and a wide range of other animals this seems to be a good average. In Mamallapuram we selected the Sea Breeze Hote
