We made a last minute decision to do the Blue Mountains first instead of heading straight to Sydney and it turned out to be amazing We didn't realize we would have to take a cable ferry to get accross a river along the way and as we pulled up we were worried because we didn't have much cash on us. I was particularly pleased when we discovered it was free. We stopped for a picnic lunch just after

We had met a number of Sydneysiders on our travels and whenever we asked them about the best places to visit they all said the same Get out of town and see the Blue Mountains. So we did.We ummed and oohed about how to get there but in the end we decided to accept our advancing years and get on a Darby and Joan style bus trip. We took the plunge picked up a leaflet in the hotel dialled t

Sydney is surrounded by some beautiful places and one place that I had on my list of 'to do's' was the Blue Mountains. It's a mountainous area consisting of a sandstone plateau that includes gorges up to 760 metres in depth and has high points up to 1190 metres. It's namesake is derived from the blue tinge the range takes on when viewed from a distance. My housemate Kate also mentioned that she

Hi All we're just back from a very relaxing and well deserved long weekend away in the Blue Mountains. We hired a car and booked a couple of nights in a pretty BB just 90 minutes from Sydney. The blue mountains are known for the blue haze that rises from the forest of Eucalyptus trees. It's a bit like walking around in a forest of Vicks Vaporub. The weather forecast wasn't great but we reasoned
