Say no to Cannon Hotel

Just dont go there Its the first wrong recommendation Ive found in the Lonely planet guide. The hotel is really a rooming house. Our room was right over the receptionbar area where the tv sits up high against the floor boards so in our room we listened to the TV show until 12am at loud volume. Since there is an open middle corridor the sounds bang off the walls and you can hear people sneeze. T

Whew what a long bus ride today. Luke and I got up in the dark. Its dark here at 800 in the morning. We found the bus station and managed to find a bus to the tip of Spain. From there we actually walked into Gibraltar. You have to go through a custom area and across the small airport to get out the the 'rock'. Its pretty wild to go from a Spanish speaking area to an English speaking one. Everythi

The Rock of Gibraltar was once one of the Pillars of Hercules and was an important military stronghold for centuries as it guarded the entrance to the Mediterranean. Traveling to the border of the Spanish Frontier we'll cross the airfield and have an excellent view of the Rock. You'll also see the Cross of Sacrifice as you drive across the airfield. We'll visit St. Michael's Cave where you'll ha

That makes it truly multiculturalMoroccan Spanish English French Portugese and many more have influenced this small country.Once again we did not book a tour from Princess and decided we could find our way around. I was impressed by the city though we didn't have time to explore the rock itself. You have to cross the runway of the city's airport to get in.
Gibraltar is a British Colony located at the base of Spain. For many years it was the center of dispute and war between Spain and Great Britian. A few years ago there was a vote to join Spain. However over 90 of the population voted to remain a British Colony. Because of that decision red phone booths Union Jack and English speakers can be found everywhere. The most recognizable trait o

We boarded the bus and drove to Gibraltar. On the way there we watched The Shawshank Redemption which I really liked. We finally made it to Gibraltar after 3 hours on the bus. Since we were about to step foot on British land we needed our passports but

We had a leisurely morning and the weather seemed to be improving so we hit the road to Gibraltar.Since we were unsure what the weather would bring the fact the cable car wasn't working and the prospect of the bus on some tight roads we decided
