On the way we stopped off in Ripon which has a massive cathedral... which according to Dom in comparison to others around the place is actually incredibly small. The town itself was small and all the roads were real narrow. We struggled to find somewhere to park but eventually we ma

It was sold in 1540 to a merchant following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 by Henry VIII. It's a shame that so many of the beautiful abbeys were destroyed during that time period.I tried not to go overboard on the photos in this section. I took 57 photos of the abbey and

one weekend out at Ripon

One weekend out at Ripon FridayRipon 1 hour away from Leeds is a tiny old city so I prefer to call it ldquotownrdquo. And Fountains Abbey with Studley Royal Water Garden four miles west of Ripon is of outstanding historic and aesthetic importance with the history of 800 years. It was declared a World Heritage site in 1987.We got on train toward Harrogate at burley park station at 1803.
