One Day in Grand Teton

We left Yellowstone in the morning and drove south into the Grand Teton national park. The traffic was extremely slow due to road constructions. We went to Jenny Lake took a ferry across it and went on a hike on the other side. First we hiked up to the Hidden Fall then to the inspiration point where we took in the view of the lake and the valley beyond. Past this point the crowd got thinne

We next camped at Colter Bay Campground in the Grand Tetons National Park. We had 26 miles of dirt road construction to get out of Yellowstone Colter Bay was surrounded by the Tetonrsquos. It was a magical spiritual experience.Beginning 10 million years ago movement on the Teton fault caused massive earthquakes pushing the mountains up and dropping the valley floorvertical displacement

Sunday September 20 2009 Another day of outstanding photo opportunities unfolded for us today. Sure we shot some of the same views of yesterday but the cloud blooms were magnificent today. I am looking forward to artsifying these images on my home desktop computer.Arizona friends Dave and Mare who have traveled this way themselves sent a comment not to miss Schwabacker Landing.
Saturday September 19 2009Shaddy emitted a low growl from somewhere under the covers when I arose before the crack of dawn. I dressed took my camera gear to The Beast and throttled up in order to be in the field at first light. I imagine there were low growls from under many covers in the campground when the diesel engine fired up with its own cacophonous growl. There was already a crowd of veh

Friday September 18 2009Yesterday was a tough travel day from Custer to Casper Wyoming. We went through more road construction zones that we could count. There were bumps humps gravel dirt and such than could be counted. But none of it yesterday could compare to the mother of constructions zones we passed through today Poor Uncle Joe The Beast dragged him through the muck for miles and m

The rain and cloudy weather from last evening was still with us when we awoke this morning. So what does one do on a rainy day in Grand Teton National Park We began the day with a little drive around Teton Village where we are staying. There are some lovely homes here and even on a rainy day there is usually something to photograph. I found my something. The Tetons were completely hidd

We were hoping for some decent weather today and I couldn't have asked for better weather for taking photos of what's known as Mormons Row. The clouds made for a very interesting sky both over Mormon's Row and the Tetons. This was our first real look at the mountains on this trip. Actually it was our first real look...period.Last visit they were cloud covered and we saw only the very tips peep

Just south of Yellowstone. You barely leave Yellowstone and a few minutes later you are in the Grand Teton area. The two parks are so close and have very different climates. Teton is a much smaller park and the crowds tend to flock to Yellowstone mainly. Guess what there are bears in Teton also but this time we were greeted by the elusive moose. That set it for us. The Teton area is also so rich

I arrived at Grand Teton around 11 a.m. this morning. I am only here for a day but the main attraction is the Teton Range itself and I got some good pics along the way. I first drove to the top of Signal Mountain and got some pics. It feels like cheating driving to the top but I was a little tired from yesterday anyways. After Signal I went for a easy 6 mile hike around Jenny Lake. The lake i
