Not christmas....but we are in Killarney

Today we drove into the town of Killarney. Yesterday we drove the Ring of Kerry. We ventured off the main path and found some old castles and stone forts that had ben mentioned in a book we had. It was well worth it. We had each place to ourselves and didn't have to deal with any tour buses. We found a pull out spot along the road with an overlook of some cliffs and the beach to set up camp

Thursday 3 SeptemberThis morning we were excited to go on the Ring Of Kerry excursion. We were lucky that the rain looked like it was stopping Perfect timing. We drove off on some very narrow and dangerous roads. At one time there was a near accident when some idiot overtook us nearly hitting oncoming traffic. The coach driver rang his licence plate into the police. The views were finally what

We headed off in fairly nice but drizzly conditions to the National Irish Horse Stud. I thought it was going to be a boring stop but it was a lovely peaceful morning. The highlight was seeing Vintage Crop whorsquos in retirement there. We saw the stallions especially Invisible Spirit who had covered

Today I left Killarney but on the way out stopped off to have a look at Ross Castle and St Margarets Cathedral. St Margarets is huge and I was allowed to just wander in. The door seems to be always open. It was very peaceful.Headed out through Killorglin Milltown Castlemaine Inch and arrived at Dingle. Dingle is very nice. Went to another milltown which plays havoc with the GPS as aft

Had a wonderful sleep and even better breakfast. This morning I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast. The black pudding was excellent. Left Rivermount House at 9am and headed along the coast stopping at each town along the way.I avoided the beara peninsula and made it to Kenmare which is just south of the Ring of Kerry. This is about a 180km loop around the Iveragh Peninsula. I ascended

Stunning Ireland

We recently returned from a two week family holiday in beautiful green Ireland. We enjoyed it all. One of our favorite places that we plan on returning to someday is Loch Lein Country Home in Fossa County Kerry just outside of Killarney. This is a four star hotel. The views are stunning. The service is the best and the food and accomodations are outstanding. The rooms are large and plush. P

First welcome to those that Michelle and I added to the Blog's email list. We'll be doing this once every couple of days or so... so have a read and don't expect any real good grammar... So yesterday was a marathon of a drive from Doolin to Killarney via the Dingle peninsula. We started the day with a quick drive to the Cliffs of Moher which are spectacular. We then took off south down towards

Our bus driver is an avid golf player. Apparently Tiger Woods goes to a golf course 20 minutes from Dingle fairly often and one of his friends got to caddy for him Not a bad gig Blarney Castle was really prettyalbeit pretty touristy.
I admit that I've turned into a neurotic eater and the potato has fallen victim to this. A summer of eating nothing but bland boiled potatoes has turned me away from this starch... with the exception of mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes are something of an elusive craved dish as they have never been made at home... not even when growing up. They're just not a Chinese thing to make. Friends are

Then onto the Dingle Peninsula with some spectacular scenery as the sun appeared for the afternoon. Around to Slea Head and views of the Atlantic. Also saw some of the beaches used in the movie Ryan's Daughter.

We stayed in a decent little hostel in Kilarney and that night the girls took me out to dinner. It was very good and I'm glad they treated me to it. After some dinner and rummy we hit the sack.
This past weekend Kaelyn Gabby and myself headed to Killarney for two days and it was sooo beautiful. A lot of it reminded me of home with the lakes and the mountains well really large hills...sort of like the ones you would see in the Kananaskis area. Even the smell reminded me of home Killarney is very much a tourist town and they take advanage of that be upping the prices on everything We
