Being that it was a long trip we were put into a big comfortable bus with lots of people from all over the world. The most interesting combination of people we had were some israeli soldiers and some u.s. navy and air force men. At one point in t

So when we arrived it was quite bad we alighted from the train and made our way through the smoke to the waiting transport where we were taken to Katherine Gorge about 20 minutes from the town of

Today was moving day and we wanted to see the Information Centre before we left as there was lots of interesting information about the gorge area to be read. We headed back into Katherine and stopped at a caravan repair centre to by a new jockey wheel as we had worn the old one out.
We decided to do a 14km return walk to the Butterfly Gorge today. We knew that it was going to be very warm so we left at 7am and it was 30 degrees when we had our first stop at 7.45 The first part of the walk was very dry as they had recently burnt the area. We then walked down into the gorge and there were lots of butterflies on the cliff rocks and they flew around us as we walked past. We saw

We asked a ranger at the visitor centre what path she would suggest if you could only take one. She suggested Butterfly gorge. We made lunch and prepared for a full day of walking. The path was very rugged and hilly however it was well worth it. The walls were at least 30 metres tall and strai
