It was the turn of Old Faithful geyser at the Upper Geyser Basin to entertain and amaze us today. But it was her sister geysers that had us captivated. We arrived at the Wall Mart sized parking lot just 30 minutes before Old Faithful was scheduled to erupt and found a front row seat among 300 eager geyser gazers. Old Faithful was a little late but nobody cared as the weather was clear blue sky and

When we stopped we could see hear smell the boiling cauldron. Thus it was for all of today. Tonight everything we wore plus our skin smells like sulpher and other uglysmelling noxious gases the names of which escape me primarily because the b

After yesterdays' marathon hiking day we decided to take it easy today. The girls slept till 1000 am and enjoyed a morning of just hanging out. We did go whitewater rafting on the Garder River for an 8 mile ride. It was alot of fun it was rated at a class 23 rapids just right for their first time.
6508 Our journey included a visit to West Yellowstone and fortunately a visit to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in the town of West Yellowstone. The scenery I include here is also from the long drive it took to get here including scenes from the Badlands in North Dakota and the splendid Alpine views of Wyoming. I had mixed feelings about the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center it was g

Well it's been a week now and I can't believe how incredible this trip has been so far. We have already seen and done so much stuff that I can't even fathom what's to come. I got up early this morning and the first thing I did after I got ready was step out the door and into WalMart to shop for some warm clothes. Tim didn't pack a single long sleeve shirt and you know good and well he didn't ha

Next we made our way into Montana Big Sky Country. It really was quite exciting driving through the rolling hills with nary a city or even a town for miles and miles. We left the interstate a little east of Butte heading for Yellowsone National park which occupies the South East corner of Wyoming. It was on top of our list of places to visit and what a thrill it was So much to see so little t

It was soooo fun. We got soaked. Our guide's name was Carl. When we went through Yellowstone today and yesterday and saw a ton of elk a couple bison a couple mule deer a bald eagle and nest an osprey and nest and a coyote. We also went t

Long drive today not sure but I think the longest of the trip at 572 miles I was right with yesterdays comments about not much to see but what was weird is the American version of UK motorway service stations or as they call them Rest Stops all they are is toilets and a drinks machine if you want feeding you have to stop at a town and there are signs on the Interstates which quite literally
