Samaria Gorge 20 Oct 2008

Day 20 Samaria Gorge	Both of us bright and early this morning. We were more or less sure of our route to the Gorge left at 7 am and arrived at 2 hours later. I was a little nervous about this drive You know how when you are driving and you have a close call with danger and that little moment kind of stays in your mind and you have flashbacks Wellhellipwhen I was driving us to Paleohora o

Day 19 and 2122

Greetings We continue on here in Paleohora and are really loving it here. Rented scooters yesterday and were out and about on the wld roads until the wind nearly blew us over when we rounded one curve so we made our way home. Heard this morning when I was out walking that the ferry is cancelled today due to high winds so we will return our scoots and explore a few more roads in the car.

I am in the internet cafe right beside the hotel...this may be the last blog I post as this place closes after today.Looking into scooter and bicycle rentals today...there is a path along the coast I want to bike on.
Fun With The Family

Onitarsquos brother Prem and family arrived the day after us which was great. They were coming for a week. Two days after that Karlrsquos brother Jon and family arrived also for a week. It was lovely to have the families there and Asha and Jay really enjoyed having both big cousins and little cousins to play with.Having so many meant that dinner was a fun occasion with the 13 of us

Paleochora Crete

Knowing the place as we do it took us no time at all to settle in. Karl unpacked the car while Onita packed things in cupboards drawers and wardrobes. The kids jumped out of their clothes and into their swimming costumes eager to do some swimming. Once the car was unpacked Karl took them swimming which was bliss.

To Be Continued...

Over the last 9 months we have learned that you really canrsquot plan more than a couple of days ahead. We left the continent of Africa after an absolutely amazing time. Our tentative plan was to start in Greece and make our way up through Eastern Europe visiting some friends along the way. We made it to Greece and settled in easily to the beach lifestyle on Crete. We spent 3 weeks hanging out

Crete Nomads in a strange land

It made perfect sense from any angle. Renting a car that is. Yesterday's adventure to and from Samaria Gorge had collectively cost us euro32 in transportation alone. And that was just about the daily rental price. Plus it would be impossible to do Crete justice by public transportation because of its size and topography And so into our lives came IEK2400 a fiesty little silver Opel Corsa
