Day 1 Adriatic Coast

The day began with breakfast at the hotel. Then we headed on a 3 hour bus ride for the Slovenia Coast. We met our tour guide for the week Jon. We headed south for Piran a beautiful fishing village and vacation destination. The small village hosts 20 Catholic churches dedicated to various saints. Piran was home to the composer Guiseppe Tartini whose statues welcomed us in Piran Square. W

HolaLast bloggotime we were on round two of a trip to Barcelona from Paris. Bidding farewell to Paris in the Springtime is tough but one must sally forth. We caught another night train to Barcelona this time in recliner chairs. Now last time I bashed overnight trains as loud hot and uncomfortable. They are not ALL like that and can be a delightfully cheap option to coughing up cash for a ho

Piran Potoroz

We left Pula feeling a little down so we were very exicited when we found ourselves in the beautiful towns of Potoroz and Piran both are on the Slovenian coastline which is only 43kms long. These towns are very different. Potoroz is the Slovenian version of the French Riveria a series of hotels along an esplanade. We decided we would stay in Potoroz and then drive the short distance to Piran f

My Final Day

Today was my last sightseeing day in slovenia...but probably my favourite. We spent the morning in Piran a very peaceful town by the sea with small cafes on the waters edge and many passers by walking their dogs. We took a nice stroll through the town had a relaxing cuppa in a cute cafe then headed off to what i had been looking forward to the most...the cavesWhen we arrived to the caves w

Picturesque in Piran...

Yesterday after partying with a big group of Erasmus European students on Friday night I took off with about 18 of them to a beautiful little town called Piran. The day started out pretty slowly as they didn't realize how long it would take to rent cars. Car rental places are a little reluctant I think when a group of 18 or so 20 year old show up Anyway one girl Malic from Austria had

We made it to Slovenia

Hi ya So we did it the long way round but we made it to Slvoenia at last. We're still on the Adriatic coast at a small place called Ankaran about a 5 minute walk from the Italian border but its still Slovenia. Again we didn't think about it being a different currency but they still accept Euro's anyway. Its a scorcher again here apart from a thunder storm one lunch time that we thought was g

The show was set in Portoroze the Slovene Monte Carlo as they say ......Lots of boats...... anyway it was a beautiful day and it was really nice to get out of Ljubljana.
who knew

Again getting to the Adriatic seemed easy enough we bought a ticket from one city to another on a direct train. But somehow in a mix of Slovenian and Italian we were directed off the train put on a bus and driven around the countryside. I went to the driver to try to make sure we were still going to Koper but suddenly the English so ubiquitous in Ljubljana was gone. Lindsay who had
