After taking so many pictures OVER 1400 just a few to give you a feel of what Canada Alaska is about. I have tried to place the photos in an approximate order of the places that we visited. The whales were a definite highlight of holiday especially the humpbacks breaching in the bay off Juneau. There were so many places to see and it was great that we were on an organised tour.
Hey allTo start with I thought I would explain the logic of doing this travel diaryblogconfessional. I'm going to be away for 6 weeks and I'll probably be coming across a computer once every two days. I really don't want to have to email everyone that I know saying what I've been up to plus attach photos to each photo. It's much easier to stick them all on one page to be viewed by all and yo

Home

That's it We are home and reunited with the dogs. A great trip and it's going to be a bit of a shock having to actually do something rather than being continually waited on. A very stress free relaxing and worthwhile time. Thanks to those of you who followed our trip and particularly to those that posted us a message. It's been fun.

Leaving Digger

Last night as I retired to bed I could hear Digger my dog. He was barking and it carried across the still night air through the open window. Digger is a dog of many barks and I sense that this bark was trying to establish why he was 'camping' outdoors rather than indoors. It was sad listening to him reaching out across the night and I have to admit at that point I wanted to stay....afterall h

The Clock is Ticking 24 hours to go It's been 5 years since I last left the UK and I can't remember the best strategy for packing. Shoes in the bottom Ah but I've got this new case which has a compartment in the lid which might make for good shoe storage. Decisions Decisions Alex is all set but there again he's been getting ready for the last week. Me Oh no That would mean I would actual

As you know we decided that postcards are soooo yesterday and instead we would keep you in the loop of our holiday by keeping a blog. Sounds easier than it actually is figuring out the most appropriate site but hopefully this is it. Although as I got so frustrated with it yesterday and tried to delete the account it may be that it isn't sorted after all Note to self there's a reason why ther

When we boarded the bus at palace court we were expecting a three hour ride to 'wustersher' worcestershire for the weekend. At ont point we were driving through wales becuase our bus driver got lost. We arrived at almost midnight and we roamed around with flashlights lookin for cows until the rest of the FYSAE kids got her. The place was a typical camp kind of place.
The big day finally arrived and Rex Kneebone of Murvi delivered our shiny new Morello motorhome. A two hour lesson on the many systems interrupted by family and neighbours who were keen to see our new acquisition was followed by the formal key handing over ceremony. Rex then dashed off to catch his train back to Devon and we were left hoping we could remember everything that he told us time wi

The story so far

We have been tent campers all our lives but during a trip to New Zealand in 2006 we hired a motorhome to tour the Southern Alps. We soon realised that for us this would be the ideal form of transport and accommodation for the extensive European travelling we intend to do during our retirement. When we got home to the U.K. we visited an exhibition to find out what was on offer and after a fair amo

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all I spent my Christmas with my aunt and uncle et al in Wellington Heath in Herefordshire the blog says Malvern in Worcestershire as that was the nearest available on the blog site.
A good day today. We've now covered just over 300 miles in 3 days. They've been long days we've been on the road around 8AM every day but haven't arrived at any of our destinations before 7PM and some have been harder than others see Day 2. Today we crossed over the Severn Bridge see photo briefly dipped into Wales and then on through the Wye Valley passed Tintern Abbey and the Monmouth

92 counties. 92 peaks. 92 days.

On Saturday I climbed through the mist and the slanting rain to the 1344 metre summit of Ben Nevis my 92nd and final mountain. The summit is the coldest place in Britain with a mean temperature of 0.3C and is scaled by 100000 people a year. If the tourist track to the top is a motorway then the summit is a service station the highest picnic area in Britain. After so many lonely summits it was

At the start of the day today I was incredibly positive after having read lots of lovely comments on my blog from you all giving me support and physically I felt like I could walk forever.
Thursday 20th JulySo I am walking again. I must say my motivation was not at its highest when I woke up this morning and realised I would have to leave the farm and head back out on the road. But since my Mum was going to be dropping me off at least I wouldnrsquot have to get on a train. Good drive down to Worcester with only the normal traffic jams all the way along the M6 and then a lovely

Due to my Fathers impending 60th Birthday this is where I take a break in my Long Walk Home. Normal service will be resumed in one weeks time. To be honest I think it will be good for my feet to have a break from the washing up liquid for a week before they fall apart totally

Tuesday 11th JulyThis morning Sasha dropped me off back in Tewkesbury and I finally turned the corner in my trip and started heading north along the Severn. Beautiful scenery by the river and I tried doing a bit of thinking about what to do next with my lifehellip the best thought I had was to become a stonemason. The reason for this was I had walked past some chaps earlier that were chisellin
