Floating Experience

Another early start to visit Thailand's largest apparently floating market at Damneon Saduak in the Rajburi canal 1 hour's drive outside Bangkok. First stop was an orchid farm and sugar factory. Then we took a long tailed boat down the canal to the floating market. Great views on the way of the local's way of life and their traditional stilted houses. Nearly got wet mainly for tourists b

We were on the road at dawn this morning to one of the floating markets outside Bangkok. On the way we stopped at a local market. This first stop was probably the highlight of the day. It was rough equivalent of Toronto's St. Lawrence Market. The sights and smells were wonderful. All the produce and fish were set out neatly on endless tables. Our tour guide Amy helped us buy some exotic fresh fr

Floating Market

Today we decided to take a 2 hour bus journey to Damneon Saduak which has an amazing floating market. The price of the ticket down there by bus was around 2 euro each. When we arrived in the town it reminded me of the high way towns in the US.We booked into our guest house which was only 4 euro and headed out to have a look at the town. As this was our first time venturing out side Bangkok we found

A Peaceful Escape From Bangkok

In the evening the bus dropped us off on the side of the highway in Damnoen Saduak. There was a tuk tuk driver Mr. Aree waiting for us. Mr. Aree was a classic and he soon had renamed Capri and Vic Momma and Poppa respectively. He took us to a lovely hotel that had rooms on stilts over the river canals and kittens on the premises. We struck a deal with Mr. Aree that he would take us on a boat

Hey FansI'm still in Bangkok but finally off Khao San Rd. and three streets over at a cute Mom Pop Guest House that cost a fraction of the cost of my previous place. I finally took a day trip and got out of Bangkok for a few hours to check out the Floating Market in Damneon Saduk. I made friends with 3 Japanese guys on the bus. Obviously they thought I was Japanese at first and it took a bi

From Hua Hin we caught a local bus to a place called Samut Songkhram where we were dropped off under a bridge on a road the same as the A12 Of course there were some sawngthaews awaiting. He tried to get us to take a lift for 300B to Damneon Saduak the place we wanted to go but we were not having that when we had just paid 80B all the way from Hua Hin We know the deal.Anyway we jumped in his t
