Turn left at the Wilderness

I have shown numerous people the decaying remains of a broken signpost with the words Wilderness Camp enscribed upon them. A few I have driven a little way along the road it used to mark but no one to my knowledge has been to the end of that road for years. Once I'd explored every other corner of the farm however I became determined to see the mysterious campsite for myself.Almost a year a

We are to visit Walvis Bay today but I am not sure that will be ultimately achieved. I was just awakened by Jennifer with sad news that has got me a bit depressed. Matt will know right off what I'm talking about Urban Meyer is leaving college football and the Gators. I completely understand why he is doing it but I think that he and the people we have on the team these last few years are a g

Looks about the same except the sun sets on it from this side. We didn't really do any of the things we had planned to do today. We attempted to do them including driving out to the Quad Bike stop just north of Walvis Bay but Jennifer thought it was too touristy and there were definitely a ton of people and I was never all that hot on it so we took off. All of the tours are guided which is p

Namibia Day 3 Sossusvlei and More Desert Driving

A LOT has happened in the last three days so one day flows into the next and into the next. We are already the 26th here in Swakopmund so a belated Merry Christmas to everyone we miss you but we have to admit that being the in the hot sweltering desert climbing massive red sand dunes and driving across moonscaped gravel roads makes you forget a little bit that it is Christmas A quick recap

The internet is very slow right now probably a countrywide issue in Zimbabwe. We leave the hotel at 11AM on one of the combi vans to yet again cross the border and get to the international bus terminal in Livingstone. It will be a while before we post again. Probably not until we reach Sesriem in Namibia. When we arrive in Windhoek tomorrow morning most likely late I have to walk over to th

We had 8 hours of driving with a few pit stops along the way Springbok being one of them and then pushed on to the Orange River. We stayed at a campsite called Felix Unite which again was quite an impressive place. This time we had full bar and hot showers. The next morning we took a 3 hour canoe trip down the

Namibia is an amazing country plain and simple. From the wildlife in Etosha National Park in the North to the incredible natural wonders of the land in the south this country has it all. Entering Nimibia in the north we headed first to Estosha National Park. We spent two nights there. Etosha means Great White Place because about 25 of the park is a massive mineral pan that was formerly a lak

Wondered over to the Swakop Lodge where they were staying at 10 and was greeted in reception by a Duncan sized hug. We all chatted told our stories and what we had been up to since we departed company. We all went into the Far Out Booking Office

Time for a photo update as life has been keeping us busy. Attached are some awsome photo's from a trip we did to Namibia and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park which covers Namibia South Africa and Botswana. Being in the Khalahari KTP is dry technically its arid savannah with a lot of seasonal grasses. You'd expect a desert to be hot but as we were towards the end of winter July time the nights

I feel like I missed something in the paperwork nobody warned me that Africa could get cold like this. At least we

We only spent a few nights in Namibia on our way to Botswana but one of the campsites was the most interesting campsite of the whole trip. It had loads of different toilets and showers all in reed enclosures and all with different themes. There was a throne toilet Poo With A View and a bath that looked out over the river and yes any boats sailing by could look up at you peeing a toilet
