Foraging in France

I believe I have finally gotten a schedule fixed for myself at University. This is good considering that University started yesterday. I am enrolled in 16 classroom hours at Nanterre Paris 10 which should transfer back as 16 units in the states. I hope. Pretty much everything I've been doing is done on a wing and a prayer and the blind hope that it will all work out just fine. So far so

October 6 2008I was never a fan of postscripts. So here I shall begin with a prescript. p.s. I will explain this once as I use the following phrases frequently if you say the phrase ldquoneedless to sayrdquo you donrsquot need to say anything afterwards. Not only is it unnecessary to say something after saying that it is needless to be said but walking away from someone after saying

About 40 years ago two long haired teenagers dared to dream. As they pondered their future and how to escape the working class suburb of Mt Wellington the area in which their friendship had developed through school rugby and other commonalities. They dreamed of travel in fact 105 countries if my memory is correct. The adventure was to start in the mines of Australia in Western Ozzie where fit

I woke up today to screaming which is typical with two kids running around except this time it wasn't the kids who were yelling. I'm not really sure what happened but when I left there was a rather intense message written on the door. It wasn't just a piece of paper stuck to the door I want to be very clear there was a message written ON the door. It readMerdeFermer la porteen partant

Paris 7 OctoberSue What can I say about today.... eventually life catches up with us all. We had planned to jump out of bed catch the metro and then a regional train to Versaille to see the palace and grounds. Instead we woke feeling extremely tired and decided to have a lay day. After all we have seen the odd palace or 2 in the last 7 weeks. We found a shopping centre and cruised the shops. Ge

I just walked home from class which takes me through the Luxembourg Gardens by the Montparnasse Tower and through the Montparnasse Cemetery. Fall is really starting to show here it makes Paris feel cozy. I started my second week of classes today. I have class TuesdayFriday so it leaves plenty of time to travel and explore. Each class is three hours long once a week taught in french. My fren

The Fat Tire Bicycle Company seem to be guided and organised by young expat Americans. Today it's Paul. We ride to the RER station and jump on with our bikes 4 to a carriage entrance to go to Vernon 45 minutes away. Once there we get off ride to the local

Paris October 6Geoff Sue has big plans for us today lots of things to do starting with a visit to the Louvre. We head into town expecting lots of crowds and queues but are surprised to find that the queues are quite small. Might be a result of having the museums open free of charge on the first Sunday of the month. We go through the security and show our Paris Museum passes and we are in.

I think that that is something important to remember for this entry especially after you read it in full and refuse to believe me. However it's true. I plan on coming back as often as my life will let me and staying in the city has solidified my belief that French is one of the most beautiful languages in the world. That being

This meant getting ourselves organised on the metro to get to the Hard Rock cafe in the 9th Arrondissement. I mean the classes wont be too easy but I have a four day weekend and three days of classes every week so... it's not hard. And we don't really need to buy any books so that's fun.
