Oklahoma and Texas again

Oklahoma was revealed through foggy and dusty morning air. Again the diversity of the landscape was stunning. One side of the road would be overtaken over by rolling red hills and huge pointed mounds of red dirt that gave a very rugged worn feel while the other side of the road would be completely flat. The land told a story of a very worn roughened and tough life. The feeling of insignificance

The Final Stretch on Route 66 Oklahoma City to Amarillo

Here it is the final stretch on our journey down the mother road. We have spent the past week in a Dodge Magnum driving across farm land cruising through half forgotten towns and eating the best American food you could ask for. I have to say I am quite familiar with the interior of the car but it has proven to be the ultimate American grand tourer. Sure I may not need 340 hp for this trip

Not A Mom and Pop Business

Ok I promised that in the next update I would reveal the coolest attraction on the Springfield to Oklahoma City run. It actually was quite unexpected. Kind of that feeling when you think you have spent all of your money then you find a twenty hiding in another pocket. We pulled into Arcadia to see the Round Barn to snap a few photographs then drove west into the sunset. As soon as we began to a

Three friends and I went hiking on a beautiful late winter day February 2009 in the Wichita Mountains. This small mountain chain is located in southwest Oklahoma west of Lamont. These mountains more like glorified hills are quite different from the Ouachita Mountains in southeast Oklahoma as the climate is much drier. Enjoy the photos.Coming up in future blogs Table Rock Lake MO Bri

We left Shepherdrsquos Staff Thursday right after work even though there were high wind warnings and they werenrsquot kidding because we had tickets to the underground salt mine in Hutchinson which was 250 miles away. We drove slowly and it worked out. We were going to spend the night in Salina but when we got there we heard that the wind was going to blow throughout the night and ag

Pictures from the Road Talimena Scenic Byway

A weekend road trip in May 2009 to the Talimena Scenic Byway in southeast Oklahoma provided many sterling sights thanks to departing thunderstorms that occurred during the morning hours. For those in this region of the country a road trip on this beautiful and very quiet highway is a must. Hiking opportunities abound here as well with good terrain exercise on the Winding Stair Mountain hike.

I feel that this blog should begin with an explanation of the origins of this trip. I have been fascinated with the United Kingdom and Ireland for as long as I can remember. I think that it has something to do with my heritage but for whatever reason I have always been so excited to hear about this area even before I had visited it. I finally visited England and Scotland my Junior year in Hig
